Hot eBay Doorcrasher: EOS 6D for $1400 at BigValueInc via eBay

Hot deal: BigValueInc via eBay has the full-frame Canon EOS 6D for $1400.00, just as we predicted. This is the cheapest price ever we’ve seen for the EOS 6D body-only.

BigValueInc via eBay is not an authorized dealer, but the vast majority of our readers report receiving US model items (which are valid for Canon US warranty service). At over $250 cheaper than authorized dealers, this is a great deal.

This is likely a split kit — expect a 24-105L deal later this week, perhaps around $650?

UPDATE: BigValueInc now has the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM for $635.00. This is the new all-time lowest price for this lens (from an unauthorized dealer).

UPDATE 2: There’s been some discussion on whether or not this is US model or import. We called BigValueInc and they did say this 6D deal includes import bodies (they didn’t say how many). For import bodies, they suggest trying to get warranty service first with Canon (Canon USA has a history of servicing anything provided you show a dated receipt); failing that, BVI would provide a store warranty of 90-days.

Hmm. Yes, at least I got the price right. 🙂

Do you think they’d come in original packaging? Both the 6D and the 24-105, sold separately?

Our readers reported that SLR bodies would come in Kit boxes (with the lens box removed), and lenses in their boxes.

CPW has been really helpful on finding good deals for all of us. On the $1400 6D, my thinking is why buy from ebay when you can get the package (6D+24-105L, PRO-100 printer) for $2100 after MIR. You can sell the lens and printer for at least $700. I guess people don’t like to go through the trouble of MIR and selling gears but you get the camera from an authorized dealer. Just my 2 cents.

Very good point. I think the market for reselling the 24-105mm + printer is a bit saturated right now, so if you’re only interested in body only I wouldn’t recommend buying the kit and selling off the pieces. But if you want either the lens or the printer definitely go with the kit.

What is MIR? Do you have a link for this deal? Thx

        MIR = Mail In Rebate.

The deal Ian is referring to is this one (posted yesterday): http://www.canonpricewatch.com/blog/2013/11/eos-6d-24-105mm-pro-100-bag-sd-for-2099-at-adorama/

        6D + 24-105mm + SD card + Printer for $2499 less $400 MIR = $2099. 2% Rewards, B&H or Adorama.

Great deal, but going to hold off and see if we could get a deal closer to what Canon was offering for the refurbished model a a couple of weeks ago

  6. November 28, 2013 at 1:02 pm EDT

thank you 🙂 i take it this is still a new 6D and not refurbished

    1. November 28, 2013 at 1:06 pm EDT

      Brand new.

    2. November 28, 2013 at 1:06 pm EDT

      this deal is unbeatable

I want to so bad! Except people owe me and still haven’t paid the amount I need to make this happen.

    Sad…

I know the feeling man =(

  8. November 29, 2013 at 11:03 am EDT

    Does it have a warranty?

    1. November 29, 2013 at 11:10 am EDT

Yes, but the answer is a bit more complicated:

The vast majority of readers in past sales have received US or Canadian model items, which is fully eligible for a 1 year US warranty, no problems at all.

Occasionally readers have gotten ones from the Japan geography. When we contacted BigValueInc they said that we should just register the serial on the Canon USA website and there would be no problem submitting it for warranty service, and if there were any problems BVI would help facilitate.

I think the savings make it worth it regardless, and BVI is one of the biggest unauthorized dealers.

  9. November 29, 2013 at 11:49 am EDT

It does seem to be worth it. Thank you!

  10. November 29, 2013 at 1:08 pm EDT

I called big value and they said this deal is for imports only.

    1. November 29, 2013 at 1:18 pm EDT

I’ll update the post with that info. What’d they say about warranty?

  11. November 29, 2013 at 1:45 pm EDT

    90 day warranty

    1. November 29, 2013 at 1:53 pm EDT

I’ll call them and see what they say.

They also mentioned the 5D Mark III deal last night was 100% US models.

I’ve updated the post with this info.

Deal is expired. After 400 sold, price went up to $1,599.41 this morning. I pulled the trigger on one up yesterday, hopefully it comes as promised.

All I have to say is pay pal sucks! I made the order when it was 1400 and they didn’t tell me there was a issue with my information. So now they canceled my order… Now I have to wait for a refund and no 6D..

That’s a bummer. Has anyone else received cancellations and/or shipments?

And BTW, B&H has it for $1499 now. Not as good as $1400, and not as good as the $1415 Amazon sale that just ended, but better than nothing:

Just got my 6D from BVI. It’s in a kit box without the lens. Brand new, apparently. Code is 8035B008, which generates lots of Japanese web sites when googling, so I assume it’s a grey market item but I’m not sure how to find out for sure. There was no warranty card of any kind in the box. I probably should have waited for the B&H or Amazon deals.

Recieved mine tonight. Grey market and error code upon first startup. Will contact them Tomorrow for a refund (hopefully) or worst case, a replacement.

Luckily BigValueInc has a 30 day return/refund policy. And if they give me a hard time, I have eBay’s Buyer Protection on my side. So I’m not too worried. I would just prefer a refund, so I’m hoping for that, so I can just order from B&H instead.

I received my refund today! Lucked out that they didn’t try to rip me off or force me to only take a replacement. They gave me the option of a refund and I took it. Now the question is- take another chance with a refurb thru Adorama or buy new with extras from B&H for approx $125 more…
