Hot: EOS-1D X for $4999 from AllNewShop via eBay

Hot eBay Deal: AllNewShop via eBay has the Canon EOS-1D X for $4999.99. This is the absolute lowest price we’ve seen for a new EOS-1D X, $450 lower than the previous best unauthorized dealer deal ($5449). This is a one-day deal.

Note, AllNewShop via eBay is not an authorized dealer. They are however one of the more reliable and reputable unauthorized dealers, the same store as GetItDigital. They recently sold 355 copies of the 5D Mark IIIs for $2559, I heard no reader complaints from that deal.

Please see the listing for details on the seller warranty. However at this price point you can easily purchase a third-party warranty and still come out ahead. Compare with $6799 for the 1D-X from authorized dealers or our street price of $6199.

I had bad experience with GetItDigital years ago. I wouldn’t completely trust a Brooklyn electronics store. Not with a $5000 piece of equipment.

In the last year they’ve done 5D Mark III sales and many, many of our readers have purchased without issue, including a 5D Mark III sale a few weeks ago at $2559. I have only heard good reports. I would publish bad reports whenever I hear them 🙂

I have heard of one recent issue where someone was shipped the wrong item, but it looks like they are resolving the issue appropriately.

I should also say buying through eBay is pretty good protection, between eBay, PayPal, and Credit Card you have many dispute mechanisms available.

SquareTrade, SageMax, Mack — you can just buy a warranty from a store within 30 days of purchasing your camera and register your camera’s serial number with them.

Grey market, warranty not covered by Canon.

    Sketchy, and cover that hole!!!!!

Just to summarize some of the comments here: they are not an authorized dealer. You cannot count on this being serviced by Canon USA for warranty.

However, I wouldn’t call this “shady”:

They are a reputable unauthorized dealer (they recently sold 355 5D Mark IIIs in a similar eBay deal, no problems reported there).

They offer a store warranty for the first year. If you’re not comfortable with that, with the huge price difference you can easily buy a 3rd party warranty to cover you.

After the first year your 1D-X becomes just like everyone else’s: out of warranty. Canon will still service an import or grey market 1D-X that is out of warranty, as long as you pay them — just like everyone else.
