New Canon Mail-in Rebates on Cameras and Lenses for July

Canon started a new mail-in rebate tonight, on 5 camera packages and 41 lenses. Camera rebates are until August 2nd and the lens rebates are until August 30th.

We list the lenses, the rebate amount, and after-rebate prices below. Some instant rebates were converted to mail-in rebates, with the same final price. As previously warned, many rebate values are reduced from the April rebates, and as expected, MAP is still strictly enforced.

Can you recommend a good lens for Disney? I have the 17-40

I would recommend the 24-105 if you’ve got a full-frame camera. The range is sufficiently wide and long enough for most of the photos you’ll be taking at Disney. While f/4 is not a super fast lens, it’s a good walk around lens if you don’t need to stop action (motion blur). I suspect you’ll be taking mostly family photos at Disney where there will be lots of group shots of people posing. The image stabilization will be helpful as well.

If you’ve got a crop body, I’d recommend the EF-S 15-85 or the EF-S 17-55 for some of the same reasons above. The 15-85 is slower on the long end compared to the 24-105, but it has a greater focal range. The 17-55 doesn’t have the reach of the 15-85 or the 24-105, but it is faster than both of them with a fixed f/2.8 aperture. The 24-105 is an option too, but it may not be wide enough on a crop body.

These lenses can be purchased in the $600-$800 range.
