5D Mark III for $2491 (Import) — eBay Price War!

All three of the major Canon unauthorized dealers on eBay (6th Ave, BigValueInc, and AllNewShop (a.k.a. GetItDigital)) slashed their prices today on the Canon EOS 5D Mark III to sub-$2500 — the lowest (for now) is 6th Ave at $2491.81.

This is the first time we’ve seen a sub-$2500 price on the Canon EOS 5D Mark III since Black Friday of 2013. This is a great price today, but bodes really well for any upcoming holiday sales! To get an e-mail notification if the 5D Mark III price drops further, click the “Notify” button on the 5D Mark III page.

As usual, these are imports; they are not guaranteed to have a Canon USA warranty, but these are reliable retailers who provide a store warranty. Our authorized dealer street price is $2699 AR.

Daniel, I hope you really don’t consider these companies. Just search for them and you will see. You don’t need the aggravation and you should see where they operate out of. Stay away.

I think this is a bit misleading, as our readers have reported very good service and products from these companies in the last few years. You also have eBay protection to back you up in case things go wrong, but less than 1% of people have it come to that.

Canonpricewatch, you tell me how misleading this is: out of 1,283 reviews, the average is 1.83 out of 10 (1 is the lowest rating).

“Price watch and comparison of only the most reputable stores.”

You might want to change your tagline (or indeed to post reputable stores).

Reseller Ratings is a joke these days — B&H is even only at 6.15/10. Only two of 6ave’s ratings on ResellerRatings are from this year, the rest are from 3+ years ago.

It is better to trust eBay feedback, as they are from verified buyers. (If a store wants to fake eBay ratings they have to pay huge auction fees, it’s hardly worth it.) 6ave has 99.1% eBay feedback — or, if you only want to look at Canon items $500+, they have 98.7% eBay feedback. I also go by what our readers tell me, and I haven’t had a single complaint about 6ave in over a year.

You can explore their eBay feedback yourself, using our feedback filter tool: http://www.canonpricewatch.com/ebay-feedback/seller=6ave

    The deal already expired??

They are cheaper because they are not USA versions. Components may be swapped out too. I would never go with an unauthorized dealer. just pay the 3199. If it is too goo to be true… it probably is.

    1. November 10, 2014 at 12:48 am EDT

Import models and USA models are the same camera made at the same Canon factories. The only difference is the packaging and the warranty.

    2. November 10, 2014 at 1:10 am EDT

I was under the impression that the 1 year canon warranty will no longer be valid. I think it should be clearly labeled what version is being purchased. As an American I would rather know I am purchasing an American version rather than a Malaysian version.

as cpw said, these are the same cameras that get shipped out for US sale however these were not intended for US sale. physically there is no difference. it’s very clearly disclosed that these prices are for the import/grey market cameras. some, if not all of these retailers offer a 1 year warranty with them in lieu of the manufacturer’s warranty.

speaking of my own personal experience of purchasing a high ticket item from one of these retailers i can say that i received the product, brand new, in box and exactly as described. i was also able to register the product on the US Canon website.
