Hot: 5D Mark III for $2149 Import AllNewShop via eBay

The 5D Mark III has now dropped in price to the lowest level seen yet ($115 lower than the previous low), brand new, with free shipping: AllNewShop via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III for $2149.99.

AllNewShop via eBay is not an authorized dealer, but is a reliable unauthorized dealer, the same store as GetItDigital. This is an import and a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed; the store provides a warranty (but historically Canon will service it anyway.)

Wow, I feel bad for those who jumped on the Thanksgiving/Christmas deals. This is much better. Probably a Mark IV on the way?

Deep, I know what you mean. However, they had the camera for the holidays, and that might have been worth the premium.

Agreed. We often forget about this aspect of it 🙂

I have a question maybe you can explain. Why would canon not warranty a grey market camera? They still made it right? Never heard this question asked or answered.

    1. January 21, 2015 at 3:40 pm EDT

Canon USA historically *does* warranty grey market cameras.

That being said, many other manufacturers don’t warrant grey market cameras (or want to) because of the way the company is structured. Each geography has its own sales targets and part of the money from camera sales is used to fund support and repair centers. When you buy a camera from another geography and service it in the USA, Canon USA’s numbers suffer: they didn’t make a camera sale, but they have to spend to fix it. That being said, good manufacturers will find a way to make international warranties work (as it’s best for consumers) but are often not structured for it.

If you ask the companies themselves, they’ll give some reasons about how with regional product differences, their local repair personnel are not trained/equipped to deal with foreign cameras… but that’s likely not very close to the truth.

    How do we know this?

why would they not sell it on their usual GetItDigital ebay store?

    Thank you

Many of the large online unauthorized dealers have multiple eBay storefronts, exactly why I don’t know, but I think it may have to do with being able to take advantage of more eBay-sponsored promotions.

I was about to buy a 6D for $1300, but I am really tempted to spend an extra $850 on this.

Just to be 100% sure…. This will qualify for the Canon Rebate, correct?

Don’t want to speak for the site, but my thought is that it will not qualify. The rebates are based on cameras purchased through authorized retailers. The post specifically states that AllNewShop eBay is not an authorized retailer. Therefore this would not qualify for the current Canon mail in rebates. That said, $2149 is a killer deal for this amazing camera.

Joe is correct, this will NOT qualify for the Canon mail-in rebate. This is NOT an authorized dealer.

  8. January 21, 2015 at 7:02 pm EDT

Can you still use the rebate?

    1. January 22, 2015 at 12:35 am EDT

i think rebates are only for purchases from authorized canon dealers
