eBay Deal: 5D Mark III for $1999 (Import) from GetItDigital

Get It Digital via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III for $1999.99. They are an unauthorized dealer, this is likely import model / grey market for which a Canon USA Warranty is not guaranteed. The store provides a warranty instead.

The only recent complaint about Get It Digital via eBay is that they will call and attempt to up-sell to a USA model. We recommend that you do not accept any upgrades.

If you’d rather an authorized dealer, our street price, brand new, from a Canon USA authorized dealer is now $2299.

Nothing is guaranteed in Grey Market

Grey market cameras and USA model cameras are made side-by-side in the same factories, it’s just a matter of the packaging and which region the item was destined for.

Canon price watch, are you giving a guarantee that these are authentic for the seller? Would you be willing to support the consumer if wrong? Unless your the seller and know the authenticity of a product you shouldn’t make broad claims that just because they say grey market that they are authentic

eBay gives that guarantee. There’s a 45-day dispute mechanism if you suspect what you receive is not genuine goods. That being said, I haven’t heard any credible cases of counterfeit Canon cameras, and readers report they have been successful in registering their bodies on the Canon USA website. Additionally, readers report that Canon USA *will* provide warranty service on grey market / imports, unlike other manufacturers or Canon in other regions.

Also, we have listed GetItDigital for 3 years now and the only complaint we hear about them repeatedly is the up-sell call. We do investigate every reader complaint we hear and take steps to de-list stores that demonstrate a pattern of poor behavior.

I bought a grey market lens from the DigitalRev guys up in China or Hong Kong. No problems with the lens it also had a guarantee, but being “grey market” if you had a problem with it you had to send it to them, that was all. It came in original packaging and well like CanonPriceWatch mentioned its the same product.

I purchased a 5D Mark III with a 24-105 lens from Get It Digital at a massive discount and I am very happy with the camera. Everything including the kit lens was included inside original Canon box. Service was great too. They had it delivered to my house the following day and I did not receive any up-sell call.

Matthew, I bought a gray 5DIII from this firm a few months ago. I bought a 6D from them 5 months ago. Both arrived as genuine product. The 5DIII even arrived with a USA warranty. When you register the bodies with CPS if they are gray they send you a note warning of the issues with gray market products but no statement about not covering your product. The 5DIII turned out to be a US version. Both bodies are available for any firmware upgrade direct from Canon. Both have store warranties in addition to eBay protection. These folks have been around a while. I have a feeling they either have or have a relationship with an authorized Canon distributor in the UK.
If the body is going to fail it will within the first few months and for that you’re covered and also have the savings.
I think I’m comfortable with this since I’m old enough that I started using and purchasing cameras when there was only a gray market. USA distribution hadn’t been set up yet. If you wanted the newest Konica or Minolta you gave money to a friend that was traveling to the orient and they brought it home for you.

I missed it…hopefully another discount soon? Maybe less than $1,999 since mark4 will be out within a year?

Abe’s of Maine has it for $1895. It says fresh import model. How are reviews for Abe’s of Maine – Is it ok to buy the Grey market Import model from them?

I Alain purchased a 5D Mark III with a 24-105 lens from Get It Digital At the Black Friday deal at great discount and I am extremely happy with the camera. Everything was genuine Canon stuff. including the kit lens was included inside original Canon box. No up sell calls either.

I bought a 1DX from All New Shop (Get It Digital) . I got the up sell call ( import made in different factory, get a USA warranty card for extra , etc). I passed and it took an extra 7 days to finally get camera shipped . Arrived in Canon box but S/N on box did not match camera S/N. I was able to register on Canon website but not sure that guarantees anything.

Good news is camera is great and no problems. I got a great price but have to say their were some anxious moments … For the price difference at the time (Street Price vs Grey Market ~ $1200) I would do it again. For $200- $300 difference I would go Street Price).

CPW has been great and I appreciate the updates and info. Gordon is great!

What is this “genuine Canon stuff” business ? As opposed to what ? Knockoff 5d III’s manufactured in some Chinese back alley ? See, the fake 5d III’s only have 19 MP of resolution, 1/2 stop lower DR and a little bit more noise starting ISO 800. But other than that you won’t be able to tell it from a genuine Canon 5d III.
