The Canon Direct Store started a Labor Day refurbished sale. The only interesting deal of note is the refurbished EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Pancake for only $99.99. Free shipping.
Refurbished items come with a 1-year Canon USA warranty. You can check out our refurbished stock tracker for the full list of refurbished items that just went on sale. The sale ends on Monday evening.
Is the 430 ex ii for $170 a good deal?
Yes, fairly good, although we liked the 430EX II for $199 new better (expired now).
Thanks. New to the Canon world. Love the site! Is it worth waiting?

Oh nice! I’m all about pancakes right now.
If anyone is on the fence about this, just get it! Great little lens, excellent image quality, fast, accurate focusing, and it adds basically no weight to your camera at all. Perfect companion for my 6D. I paid $20 more than this for a refurb 40mm about a year ago, so this is an excellent deal.
How often do they replenish the refurb store? Should I expect other lenses to be added during the sale period?
How helpful is this for crop body ? I already have 50mm 1.8.
corrction , I have 50mm f1.4
If you already have the 50 1.8 you may be better off with the EF-S 24mm STM pancake lens. Same exact shape and size, but wider field of view (~38mm on crop.) That will compliment your ~80mm equivalent 50mm lens really well. I have a full frame body, and my preference is for a 35mm lens, so I’m partial to this focal length. Plus, this matched with my 6D is a great combo. Light, fast focusing, doesn’t get in the way, and it’s f/2.8. The 24mm is cheap too, but not quite as cheap as the 40 refurbished.
