Canon Store Price Mistake? 27% off Refurbs, 5D Mark III for $1525

UPDATE: Sadly, as of 9:45 PM ET, this deal is now dead. The coupon codes no longer stack, and it’s now back to the regular 15% discount. Now we wait to see if the orders are filled. Please update us by commenting here if you hear anything…

UPDATE (Oct 26 6:30 PM): Things are shipping! Most readers are reporting tracking numbers and shipping confirmations. Congrats if you got in on this deal, it’s a fantastic one.

The Canon Direct Store seems to have made a price mistake: they have coupon codes for 15%, 10% and 5% off that are stackable for an incredible 27% discount on all refurbished items.

Apply coupon codes JACKOLANTERN, TRICKORTREAT, and WITCH for the discount. Coupon code “ONEPAL” for free overnight shipping, if you pay using PayPal.

Last time this happened, the Canon Direct Store fixed the error within hours, but did honor all orders placed. These prices are absolutely incredible and we strongly recommend you buy now and think later. Check out the refurbished stock tracker to see the full list of items in-stock. If you ordered already — order again with the coupons and cancel your old order. DO NOT CALL THE STORE to adjust your previous order. Remember, you get a 1-year warranty and 14-day return period.

This will likely hit the deal forums and explode — remember, you saw it first on CanonPriceWatch 🙂

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

I ended up ordering something with the original single code. Then after all 3 codes were announced and stackable I placed a second order. Is there a way to cancel the original order, or will I need to just return it? Thanks

You can call them in a few hours to cancel the other order, preferably after they’ve undone this “special promotion”.

Last year they did the same. I was able to get the ts-e at an incredible price. I hope they will restock by friday, at least with only one coupon. My wish list is full of items, not in stock of course!

  11. October 24, 2015 at 4:13 pm EDT

How can you cancel an order that was placed previously?

    1. CanonPriceWatch
      October 24, 2015 at 4:15 pm EDT

Call them to cancel. But please don’t do so right away.

      1. October 24, 2015 at 4:18 pm EDT

sounds good! The 70D had a kit lens with it for only another $15 or so…and I bought the non-lens kit in the frenzy lol

        1. October 24, 2015 at 7:38 pm EDT

Likewise. At least I have the 17-40/4 L , otherwise I’d be a lot more pissed off at myself for missing the 18-55mm kit lens.

  13. October 24, 2015 at 4:22 pm EDT

Why is the price higher when I put it in the checkout? It does not show the 27% price drop at all.

    1. CanonPriceWatch

ONEPAL only works if you pay via PayPal.

Adorama return policy on new items is 30 days.

Canon Direct Store return policy is you must initiate the RMA within 14 days.

  16. October 24, 2015 at 4:31 pm EDT

    Kristi Check this out!

  17. October 24, 2015 at 4:31 pm EDT

    1. October 24, 2015 at 4:33 pm EDT

Please read the post. You need to apply 3 coupon codes to get the discount. It still works for me…

  18. October 24, 2015 at 4:42 pm EDT

I’m looking now for answers but maybe you know- is there a warranty? How’s does refurbished work when it comes to shutter count? Is the shutter new or something? Thank you!

    1. October 24, 2015 at 4:55 pm EDT

There’s a 1-year Canon USA warranty on refurbished bodies and lenses. Shutter count varies, based on what readers have told us, you can get bodies that are as low as single-digit shutter actuations, the most we’ve heard of is several hundred — so generally these are bodies that are almost brand new.

      1. Tanya
        November 2, 2015 at 3:42 pm EDT

I wanted to come back to this post, since I was wondering too. I got the refurbished 5D Mark III (from the Canon Direct Store) and before using it, I just checked the shutter count using EOS Info software. Mine has a shutter count of 445. Hope that helps someone else.

    2. Martin
      October 24, 2015 at 5:07 pm EDT

Adding to what CPW wrote, here are some actual shutter counts for the refurb bodies I have bought from Canon. 60D – 14, 70D – 20, 5D Mark III – 18. If you’re thinking about buying a body, don’t hesitate. These prices are great. I have never had an issue with any of the refurbished products (lenses, flashes, bodies) I have bought from Canon.

    3. October 24, 2015 at 8:21 pm EDT

Bought a 70D 18-135 refurb with 57 shutter actuations and a 6D with 27. Lens, 24-105L and a 55-250 STM, I have no problem with the Canon refurbs.

Why oh why could this not have happened when the 16-35 f4/L IS and/or 135mm f2/L were in stock?!

Thanks again! You guys are the best.

Bought the 70D and the 85/1.8 to go w/ my current Canon kit (5D, 17-40/4 L, 40/2.8, 35-80mm kit lens my wife got with Rebel SII in the ’90’s).

    1. October 24, 2015 at 7:57 pm EDT

Make sure to update the lens correction info with the latest. My wife has that combo, chromatic aberration is pretty bad if you are shooting jpeg and don’t have the update done.

Interesting that on Oct 29th last year, I got a compact 50mm macro lens under the same sort of stacked deal (10% + 15% + 20%).

I can’t help but wonder if Canon is actually doing this intentionally every so often as an unadvertised bonus for customers who get refurb equipment.

    1. October 24, 2015 at 8:42 pm EDT

Yes. They’ve done this stacked deal before. I’m sure that one was a mistake as 4 hours later the coupons became unstackable. Given that today’s Saturday, perhaps no one has realized the error yet.

    2. October 24, 2015 at 8:48 pm EDT

Well, I got an order confirmation from Canon & a payment confirmation from Paypal, so I have hopes for getting the 8-15mm f/4 Fisheye (for the wife) & 7DMII (for me). 🙂

Thanks for posting about the deal. I’m, fairly sure that I learned about last year’s deal from you guys too. 🙂

    3. October 24, 2015 at 8:49 pm EDT

Just in time. The site is down now. I bet they’re fixing the coupon codes.

    4. October 24, 2015 at 8:51 pm EDT

I placed our order just before 3pm & was telling my other Canon buds about it ever since. I see the Fisheye sold out.

      Coupons no longer stack…

  55. Ryan
    October 24, 2015 at 9:35 pm EDT

The 27% deal is over. Canon already fixed it. The coupons no longer stack now. 🙁

  56. Gerry
    October 24, 2015 at 9:36 pm EDT

Looks like it’s done. The codes still add to the cart, but aren’t changing the size of the discount. I just tried picking up the 24mm pancake… oh well. I barely missed out on a 5DMkIII (had one in my cart and then it was gone by the time I tried to buy it)… but I ended up getting a 7DMkII and a 6D.

  57. Steve
    October 24, 2015 at 9:51 pm EDT

Actually what Canon has done is raise the pre-discount price to the refurb list price. I had left another camera in a cart and went back to check on it. All the discounts were still there, but the price of the 7DII went up to 1400+. That might have been where the mistake was, they forgot to raise the prices back up before the sale.

    1. CanonPriceWatch
      October 24, 2015 at 9:53 pm EDT

Actually, the “Instant Savings” still shows up. It’s the stacking of the coupons that has stopped. It’s still a decent 15% off, but not the fantastic 27% off.

      1. Steve
        October 24, 2015 at 10:01 pm EDT

Yes , it is completely back to normal now

  58. David S.
    October 24, 2015 at 9:54 pm EDT

Coupons still work, but no longer stack. Any one of them seems to still get you 15% off, though. I was able to get my order through (it would seem) because I had stuff in my cart already while they were changing the site. I was able to check out at the 27% discounted price, and the confirmation e-mail seems to honor that. We shall see what happens. I did spring for the 6D, even though I was holding out for the 5D4 or 6D2. But, like you said, buy now, think about it later.

  59. October 24, 2015 at 10:01 pm EDT

DEAL IS NOW DONE. The coupon codes don’t stack anymore. Now, we cross our fingers and see if they ship…

    1. October 24, 2015 at 10:07 pm EDT

I ordered and a friend I referred orders. Fingers definitely crossed they ship.

    2. October 25, 2015 at 3:47 pm EDT

Why wouldn’t it ship if you purchased something?

    3. October 30, 2015 at 11:41 am EDT

They did and got a 6d for whooping 854.

  60. Dean
    October 24, 2015 at 10:12 pm EDT

well I just got screwed. I placed the order @ 10/24/15 6:30 PST, and all coupons went through. I saw the confirmation on the screen for the correct 30% discount. then I closed the window. when I got the email, it showed only a 15% discount.

I called their line and after 20min wait got a person on the line. that person told me those codes were privately emailed and do not stack. she also said that the system does not allow for orders to be canceled and I can only call to return the item once received. I asked if I would be charged return shipping and she says “it depends.” I said that was not acceptable and she said she was sorry but can’t do anything.

there you go. I guess that’s what I get for being greedy. also, canon is at partial fault since they are not attempting to fix what is their mistake on their side.

    1. CanonPriceWatch
      October 24, 2015 at 10:14 pm EDT

You can cancel orders. Readers have done that before. They cancel orders on us all the time, too.

      1. Dean
        October 25, 2015 at 1:33 am EDT

so, the original lady I spoke to on the phone actually called me back 30min later and told me she tried to think about how to help my situation. at first she told me I got a good deal anyway, and I told her I agreed but still wanted to return the item. then she said since my card wasn’t charged yet she could do that, and then went on to cancel my order. so I guess it’s all fixed now.

I wonder if this is something intentional that Canon does periodically to clear out inventory quickly and build a buzz…and of course if you entice so many consumers to purchase Canon, you probably will get them to buy more in the future, with lenses, etc.

      1. David S.
        October 24, 2015 at 10:40 pm EDT

The e-mails show the price after tax. That could be the source of the price differentials.

        1. 71sbeetle
          October 25, 2015 at 4:49 am EDT

Nope, the two items I ordered were $179.99 and $149.99, tax is 8.1% here, with all 3 it was $259.xx but the email shows $303.xx which is only 15% discount applied

    3. Stephen U.
      October 24, 2015 at 10:56 pm EDT

Same for me. $852 including tax for 6D on checkout page, $997 on order confirmation. Called and told them this and asked them to cancel, and they wouldn’t cancel it. They called me back a bit later and offered to cancel after trying to talk me into keeping it at the higher price. Fun way to spend an hour of my evening.

  63. Question
    October 24, 2015 at 10:23 pm EDT

Can anyone see their order in their canon account page

    1. David S.
      October 24, 2015 at 10:39 pm EDT

Mine shows the correct discounted price (after tax), the same as the confirmation e-mail, and I placed my order during/after the “fix” (roughly 8:30pm Central time).

      1. Question
        October 24, 2015 at 10:56 pm EDT

I got the email too but nothing in my canon account. I called the 800 number and they said the order is still valid. Also I got a extra $60 off for trading in a old original digital rebel. $1586 after tax for a 5d Mark iii

This was a mess today…..ordered this morning with one coupon then cancelled and reordered at tiered coupon rate..all three. Then lost out on one lens as it was too late…out of stock. Hoping the remainder of order gets filled. I suppose we will all know more on Monday.
I still see order in account page however it shows camera as being “out of stock”.

Everyone please sit tight. It looks like those who ordered early see orders that appear fine and are in-process, and those who ordered late (near when they shut the coupons off) are getting weird hiccups where the confirmation e-mail amount doesn’t match the checkout amount.

Do comment here if you have any update. Also please note the time of your order so we can see if there’s any correlation to order time.

I actually didn’t get an email at all, but my credit card was charged $1636.05 for a 5D Mk III. Although, the last time I ordered something online I put my email address in wrong, so maybe my dumb@ss did the same thing again.

UPDATE: I still haven’t received an email so I called the Store and they told me that the order still shows ‘awaiting payment authorization’ even though my credit card was charged immediately. She said that it won’t go through until Monday and that’s when I’d get the email. Strange.

I did checkout as a guest (because I was in a hurry, lazy, and didn’t remember I had a Canon store account already). So maybe that’s why…

I ordered the 10-18 this morning with one code. Then ordered it and a 70d with 3 codes about 3pm EST. I called at 4pm and they couldn’t cancel the first order, so I’ll have to return it. The second order looks like it will process correctly. The one wierd discrepancy was the online order history shows a shipping charge for both orders, the first order was free ground. The second order was free next day with onepal code. We’ll see how that affects returns, final charges to my card, etc.

My confirmation email shows a price of $1439.20 but the price on my receipt is $932.37. My CC has a pending transaction for the $932.37. I’d wager the email is somewhat “robo generated”. At any rate, I’m optimistic the 7D Mk II will ship.

Last week I emailed Canon asking if they would give me a refurbished 7D Mk2 for 1000.00 since I have been a Canon customer for so long. I got a reply from one of their rep “I understand you are seeking to buy the 7D Mk2 at a certain price point and I am here to help you. At present we are not offering it at the price you are looking for but from time to time Canon offers “Holiday Hush” sales where we offer discounts not normally offered. You need to sign up for our Holiday Hush Sales newsletter to be notified of this sales. The next Hush Sale is on Saturday 24th of October”. Anyways to cut a long story short….this past thursday an authorized Canon retailer gave me a spanking new 7D mk2 for 1200 with full warranty. I took it.

I ordered two lenses a little after 5 PM Eastern time yesterday. I paid through PayPal so I also got the free expedited shipping it in addition to the 27% discount. Both my Canon order and the PayPal receipt show the same amount. As of this morning, I have not received any further additional emails about my order, but I will let you know as to whether or not I receive my order. FWIW, I was in a situation in which I had to place the order using my iPad, but it seems to have worked perfectly, at least in terms of getting the order placed. So, thank you canonpricewatch.com very much for alerting me to this opportunity and for providing such thorough instructions that my order seems to of gone through as intended. This is an incredible deal that I greatly appreciate so, again, thank you Canonpricewatch!

i ordered 85, 1.8 yesterday afternoon, then i received the order received email, but today when i checked my canon account, there is no any order information, and also paypal is showing pending. so i’m wondering if the order is being cancelled ?

  86. Brandon
    October 25, 2015 at 12:39 pm EDT

Ordered 5D MKIII approx. 3:50pm EST yesterday (w/stacked disc) shows pending in paypal with “will be charged once canon completes your order”. I have bought from canon previously, but signed in as guest so I can’t see the current status

BTW: as someone who watches inventory as part of my day job, I’ll add a thought… I’m having a hard time imagining Canon cancelling hundreds of “shippable” orders this close to end of the month. Let’s not lose sight of the fact refurbs were flagged for a variety of reasons some of these products (5D3 for example) are getting near the end of their lifecycle…

Wishful thinking perhaps but I would be a little surprised to see mass cancellations…

    1. Marc
      October 25, 2015 at 2:04 pm EDT

It’s a good point. These are not the most premuim or sought after products. Making less profit is better than being stuck with overstock.

    2. Martin
      October 25, 2015 at 3:17 pm EDT

I don’t know how much profit Canon made after all these stacked discounts, but I am pretty sure they grossed several hundred thousand dollars in the matter of a few hours. Think about it. Many people have commented here about ordering bodies that cost $500-$1500. Then there are the lenses for hundreds of dollars each.

Given the reach of CanonPriceWatch and other deals sites, there were probably hundreds of transactions made. This glitch could make their gross sales numbers look really good this month. If they still made a profit, they probably won’t bother canceling the orders. They can just chalk it up as a way they got a lot of Canon gear into a lot of hands, and clear out stock.

My orders are now marked as “Inventory fulfilled” now, which is good news and bad news. I ordered at 4:20pm PT yesterday. Just spoke to a canon rep, said the order is ready to ship tomorrow. Ordered a 70d body, kicking myself for not getting the kit lens for just $15 more.

BTW – my wife works in merchandising for an online retailer, says this is likely a scheduled promotion. The last two times something similar has happened, the discounts for the codes were 20%, 15% and 10%. This time, 15%, 10% and 5%. She thinks they’re probably trying to hit similar sales numbers with less of a discount. It’s essentially a flash sale that lasts for a few hours like so many sites have.

Bottom line, whether it’s an actual promo or someone’s error, we’re getting good deals.

    1. CanonPriceWatch
      October 25, 2015 at 6:47 pm EDT

Interesting insight. I don’t think we’ll ever know for sure if this was intended or not, but you’re right that we got good deals regardless.

      1. Just Thinking
        October 25, 2015 at 7:53 pm EDT

If this has happened more than once, then it is definitely intentional. Canon’s website is not run by a bunch of rubes. They know exactly what they are doing.

It would be difficult to think this could even happen once by accident, given the way that most large companies run their websites. It’s not like it’s done by one guy in a lonely office.

But imagine it did happen accidentally once. Does anyone think it would happen again, esp. as if it were accidental then probably a whole group of people would have been chewed out for the costing the company a lot of money.

This is intentional, and smart by Canon. Gets rid of inventory, makes customers happy, and most will continue to buy other Canon products.

        1. CanonPriceWatch
          October 25, 2015 at 8:01 pm EDT

Having followed the Canon Direct store for more than 4 years now… there have been many times when there’s been technology-based screw-ups (overselling inventory; taking orders on stock that’s not there, then cancelling; random cancellations without notifying the customer). Also plenty of marketing gaffes (often I’m surprised that they restock rare lenses during 15%-off or 20%-off sales when they would sell at out regular price in a heartbeat, inconsistent discounting policies that differ from rep to rep).

If this were B&H or Adorama or Amazon, there would be no doubt about this being a marketing ploy. Given the big picture of what I’ve seen from the Canon store over the last 4 years, I really can’t put this at anything more than an oversight, one they’ve made 3 times in the last 2 years. If it comes back a 4th time I’ll chalk it up to marketing…

  94. October 25, 2015 at 4:40 pm EDT

I ordered 6D Friday then called back after seeing your email yesterday. Canon person spent about 20 mins writing long note refunding me the 15% and then the 10% and 5% because she saw there were no restrictions for stacking. CPW – Is this highest discount – 27% – you have seen from the Refurb Store?

Will there be anything comparable to this sale during the holidays?

    1. CanonPriceWatch
      October 26, 2015 at 7:31 am EDT

We saw 38% in last October 2014’s halloween stacked coupon sale/mistake. Nothing good was in-stock, and it didn’t apply to 5D Mark III at the time.

I can’t predict Canon’s future promotions. I can tell you that last year Holiday season they did a stacked 15% + tiered discount, but that’s not as good as 27%. Last year’s discounts didn’t apply to 5D Mark III or 6D (and 7D Mark II wasn’t available refurb yet.)

      1. Ait
        October 26, 2015 at 11:00 am EDT

        CPW –
Dang, I was afraid of that. I am kicking myself for not getting a 6D this time (altho I see where Canon cancelled the order on at least person who did). Less than $800 for a 6D is a phenomenal price for a full frame body…

          October 26, 2015 at 11:17 am EDT

          October 26, 2015 at 9:34 pm EDT

          Here’s the original post:

          http://www.canonpricewatch.com/blog/2014/11/hot-15-off-refurbished-sale-surprise-stacks-with-tiered-discount/

It was 15% off + $100 off a purchase of $1000 or $50 off a purchase of $500; this is an effective discount of anywhere between 19% to 24% depending on the value of the item.

Less than the 27% here, which stacked with an instant discount Canon had on the bodies on the 24th.

Thanks cpw. My 24-70 f4 is on inventory fullfilled. Can anyone explain me what does inventory fullfilled mean? Also 24-70 f4 shows that hood is not included. Is it their mistake to not write down the hood or it is really not included?

Follow up….My order of 5d mk iii and 50mm prime is still hanging in “order received and processing”. Nothing further since Saturday. Initially I also had the 8-15mm fisheye and then late afternoon on Saturday they said there was an “inventory problem” and then removed it from my order.

  132. October 26, 2015 at 11:10 pm EDT

    1. Mark
      October 27, 2015 at 5:19 am EDT

I’m in the same boat. FedEx tracking reads:

Shipping label has been created. The status will be updated when shipment begins to travel.

It’s been the same all day.

      1. Freddie
        October 27, 2015 at 5:33 am EDT

Same here! They’ll probably show up at my house this afternoon when no one is home. Again, I hate FedEx!

  134. Alan
    October 27, 2015 at 6:42 am EDT

    Same status since yesterday.
I am used to getting that from Ebay sellers shipping regular speed but never from Overnight orders where time is critical.
We will see if it gets there today somehow.

  135. Tom
    October 27, 2015 at 7:44 am EDT

It sounds to me like they either did not pick up the packages yesterday… or they did and did not scan any of them as received. Mine is coming from Newport, VA and being shipped to PA. Says delivery by today at 10:30am but still shows the status as:

Shipping label has been created. The status will be updated when shipment begins to travel.

‘3:53 pm Shipment information sent to FedEx’

I’m hoping that it is still coming this morning

  136. RK
    October 27, 2015 at 8:05 am EDT

Same- looks like it’s stuck in Newport News, VA.

  137. Bob
    October 27, 2015 at 8:44 am EDT

Yeah I don’t think FedEx would have so many packages wrong in their system. I am thinking Canon had issues yesterday as their customer service dapatment told me their computer system was down most of the day. Most likely their system did not get repaired in time to make the FedEx pickup window …. Or Canon is pulling all of are good deals and going to send a order cancel email today….. LOL

  138. Steve
    October 27, 2015 at 8:58 am EDT

They still having computer problems. Tried changing my personal info on account again today, it their internal system still down

  140. RK
    October 27, 2015 at 9:24 am EDT

Called Canon. They confirmed it shipped despite what FedEx status shows and that this is “normal”. She said it will be delivered sometime today.

    1. Nadine
      October 27, 2015 at 9:35 am EDT

My overnight repair a few days ago from Canon didnt had this Problem. This Time it still say nothing like it would be on way. I hope too it’s come today either way. Have a shooting and my other camera is still at a repair there (and I have gold status and it’s over 3 days… 🙁 )

  141. Josie
    October 27, 2015 at 9:45 am EDT

When I talked to Canon they said they were having major computer system problems all day yesterday. I have three separate orders that were placed. One looked normal, with next day air, and it was delivered this morning. One had a label created, but does not look like it has moved. The other has been sitting at “Inventory Fulfilled” for two days, and for some reason is being shipped FedEx Ground although I was pretty sure I put the code in. In any event, I figure everything will arrive sooner or later …

  142. Bradley
    October 27, 2015 at 10:13 am EDT

My 5DmIII was shipped FedEx Priority O/N originating from Newport News, VA headed for MD. FedEx confirmed that it is still in Norfolk, VA and won’t make the 10:30am delivery today.

They also could not give me a delivery date or time. Because of the signature I had to have the shipment held for pickup at a FedEx facility.

    Boo

  143. Nico
    October 27, 2015 at 10:27 am EDT

One is showing in my city being sorted for delivery today. The other is showing delivery today within 3 hours, but still in label created, won’t be updated till it begins to travel in Va. No update on duplicate, higher-priced, regular shipping, going to be returned, inventory fulfilled, lens.

  144. Bradley
    October 27, 2015 at 10:39 am EDT

Status has updated along with my hold request. The package arrived at the FedEX Tennessee hub at 9:10am from VA. It will probably be back out here to me tomorrow.

It sounds like Canon ran out of space on the FedEx trucks last night. I guess only Amazon can have their own fleet.

  145. October 27, 2015 at 11:38 am EDT

My sl1 is still at Inventory fulfilled. I ordered at about 6PM on Friday.

    1. Martin
      October 27, 2015 at 12:28 pm EDT

I’m kind of concerned. It’s good that other orders are showing up as shipped and some are actually being delivered, but mine is still shown as “Inventory Fulfilled.”

I didn’t use the free overnight shipping code since I wasn’t using PayPal. Maybe Canon was so overwhelmed with the overnight shipping orders that they haven’t gotten around to the ground shipping orders.

  146. Dude
    October 27, 2015 at 12:18 pm EDT

I placed three separate orders all at around 3PM Saturday afternoon, and they’re all still showing as “Inventory Fulfilled” on my online account page. Called Canon this morning (Tues), and they stated that all three items have been “released” and will likely be picked up by FedEx by this evening. We’ll see…

  147. Nadine
    October 27, 2015 at 12:37 pm EDT

Canon Told me it is shipped and Comes Today and fedex Told me it is Not shipped ! Sucks… What is right -.-

  148. Ken W.
    October 27, 2015 at 12:47 pm EDT

My 40mm that I used PayPal on with regular 15% off was delivered this morning. For about $10, it wasn’t worth the headache to me to cancel for the 27%. I didn’t want to use the rest of my PayPal balance so I took ground shipping on the 10-18mm which is still in “Inventory Fulfilled” limbo.

Now having “non-buyer remorse” for not picking up the 35mm f/2 IS at that price, but I wanted to wait for a sale on the new Tamron SP 35mm which is still priced higher than the Canon.

    1. Ken W.
      October 27, 2015 at 1:20 pm EDT

And 30 minutes later it’s “Order Shipped” and a FedEx Ground tracking number. Thanks again CPW!

  149. Rob D.
    October 27, 2015 at 12:57 pm EDT

I received a shipping notice from Canon yesterday around 2:30pm (Pacific) and the FedEx tracking has been showing as “Label created” since then, despite the scheduled delivery being by noon today. I’m guessing it’s still sitting on the loading dock in VA and won’t be here until tomorrow. Nice…

    1. Rob D.
      October 27, 2015 at 2:24 pm EDT

Now tracking says delivery by Wednesday noon, but still in “Label created” mode. I guess you don’t get to choose the night for “overnight” delivery–it’s whenever FedEx gets around to it. Oh well, at least shipping is free.

      1. 71sbeetle
        October 27, 2015 at 2:44 pm EDT

Not FedEx’s fault, if Canon doesn’t give them the package, they can’t ship it! I think Canon created labels before they had the packages ready to meet the overnight deadline. I’m sure Paypal will love being dragged into that.

  150. October 27, 2015 at 1:08 pm EDT

The package has been acquired. I say again, the package has been acquired.

FedEx delivered it to my door between 9:30 and 10:00 local time. (I note that I live in Las Vegas for the three or four of you who didn’t know it yet.) The box was huge, although I had ordered only the 70D and the 85/1.8 lens. Safety regulations re: the batteries enclosed?

You may mark me as “Fulfilled.” 🙂

    1. October 28, 2015 at 3:23 am EDT

Its been 3 days and I havent gotten a single email since the first “ordered recieved by canon email” im getting worried that my 70d wont process through. My paypal account shows it “processing” still

  151. October 27, 2015 at 1:20 pm EDT

Got a 5D shipping notification by FedEx Ground! Called customer service an hour or two ago, they said they would check with (very busy) warehouse.

  152. 71sbeetle
    October 27, 2015 at 2:01 pm EDT

It’s 11am here, I received one of 3 packages Canon sent ….. a pair of 4gb SD cards that came free with two P&S I bought. How thrilling. In the meantime, the good stuff is still showing it’s in VA, not yet picked up, with delivery today by 1030am (30 minutes ago). I used the Paypal code AND I paid with Paypal lol.

    1. Nadine
      October 27, 2015 at 2:12 pm EDT

      1. 71sbeetle

  154. October 27, 2015 at 2:22 pm EDT

    Just got my shipping confirmation!

    1. October 27, 2015 at 6:22 pm EDT

Got the deal, says shipped, but forgot to put in the free overnight shipping code when I ordered. Fortunately not in a hurry and the 7D2 is a bit of a frivolous purchase. Wish I had ordered the 10-18 at the same time, wife wants a wide lens.

Went from “Label Created” and arriving today to “Picked up” and arriving tomorrow. Still hate FedEx.

      1. Nadine
        October 27, 2015 at 2:43 pm EDT

I think it isnt fedex fault…

      2. Alan
        October 27, 2015 at 2:48 pm EDT

Same here but it is Cann who lied to us and counted a “label created” as shipped.
FedEx cannot ship a label they needed the actually products that Canon gave to them only today.

        1. Bob
          October 27, 2015 at 2:52 pm EDT

Don’t complain to much. We most likely got a much bigger discount then we were supposed to. They could have been like other companies and sent us a order cancel or even worse they could send us a Nikon to use

Also I just got a notice from fedex saying the package has been picked up

        2. Alan
          October 27, 2015 at 2:58 pm EDT

I am counting my blessings. This is a great price and waiting another day after having paid $0.00 for overnight shipping is not too bad.

I got a notification of a used 5D3 for $1349 sold by Adomara, when I called them about the condition they said that the Camera had seen better days.

For $300 more I got a like New Camera with full Warranty, what not to like?

        3. Freddie
          October 27, 2015 at 2:55 pm EDT

I agree in that this minor delay is Canon’s fault… But FedEx still sux. They could use a lesson from UPS when it comes to their online tracking information (and more)!

  157. Nadine
    October 27, 2015 at 2:56 pm EDT

Bob, if they wouldnt promise everythibg would be Fine. But The Promotion wasnt a fault anyway. They knew what they do. And they even could do a normal 2-3 shipping promise . I called and on the phone they told me it come today. Yes the discount is awesome but I am not a fan of promisings they break. Just to get a lot sold and we calculate with that comeing. And then it’s not happen. Like I said they knew it will be busy because the sale was scheduceld like someone wrote they hand over a special newsletter to some people 😉

  158. RK
    October 27, 2015 at 3:11 pm EDT

FedEx updated with delivery date for tomorrow. Canon earlier told me today. Agree it’s aggravating.

  159. Jason
    October 27, 2015 at 3:33 pm EDT

Update: My 5d mk iii order from Saturday morning is still hanging in “order received and ready for processing” mode. Just spoke with Canon and they blame credit card. I speak with credit card and they say everything fine….amount was released etc. In fact, credit card online shows pending charge. So far this has been nightmare with Canon support. No straight answers. Will ask to speak to a supervisor later today.
Glad the rest of you are actually receiving or about to receive your orders!

      October 27, 2015 at 9:43 pm EDT

Did they Tell u Why ?

      1. Josh G
        October 29, 2015 at 10:38 pm EDT

They said it had something to do with payment and wouldn’t give me the reduced price. That was two days ago.

I just got off the phone with them and got them to re-instate the order with 2-day expedited shipping! Great customer service Canon! All it took was a little persistence. I am happy with their service and will definitely be a long term customer with them. Had things gone the other way I doubt that would be the case.

  168. October 27, 2015 at 9:15 pm EDT

The status of my order remains at “Inventory Fulfilled” and it has not been shipped. I placed my order at around 1:30pm Pacific and did not use PayPal. Is there anyone else out there who hasn’t received a shipping confirmation yet? Thanks.

70d delivered about 30 minutes ago, unfortunately I’m at work so won’t be able to inspect until later. Eager to install Magic Lantern, curious to see what the shutter count is.

  178. Mark
    October 28, 2015 at 1:09 pm EDT

Eoscount.com. I think it’s a couple dollars. Or if your camera supports magic lantern, ML will also give you the count.

      October 28, 2015 at 3:00 pm EDT

I did eoscount worked fine for my 5D3 and SL1 but wouldn’t take my 7D2 so after paying $10.58 for the first two I paid $2.99 for the shutter count app and was able to check all 3 unlimited doohhhhhh oh well.
My SL1 came with 1300 actuations, the 7D2 had 285! Thank you again CPW for the great deals!

Got my 5Diii and it looks great. Only a couple of minor wear marks where the strap attaches. They used a sharpie or something on one of the marks on one side. 10,367 shutter count. Higher than I was hoping for but whatever, I’m not worried.

What are you using to get your shutter counts?

    1. 71sbeetle
      October 28, 2015 at 5:14 pm EDT

You can see in my post above I tried EOSCount $1.79 per shutter count read or $5.29 for the lifetime of the body but it didn’t support my 7D2, then I downloaded and bought the shuttercount program ($2.99) and now I can do any camera as many times as I want.

If you have a Mac, you can use the Shuttercount App:
        https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shuttercount/id720123827

They also have a Windows version as well, but I haven’t tried it before.

7D Mark II arrived this morning, 6958 shutter count. I can’t find a mark on it with a magnifying glass. Code ONEPAL gave free next day shipping, paid with Amex. BTW, someone said they were charged for next day shipping using the code. The shipping shows up as a charge in the invoice, but a credit is added with the other discounts. Shipping is then a net zero

I was too slow for the 5D Mark II, so I got my 6D and 7D Mark II instead. I also picked up two SL1’s (One for my friend as her first DSLR that she paid me back for and the other so I can help answer her questions better since it was so cheap.) Also picked up a 24-70 f/4 and 85 1.8.

    October 30, 2015 at 10:05 pm EDT

After receiving my 70d, I did a comparison with my T3i using the
same lens on both cameras, both cameras using the same settings,
taking the exact same photo with both.

To my surprise, the photos of the T3i were always better. Is
    this normal?

    1. Hans
      October 30, 2015 at 10:27 pm EDT

      By better, I mean sharper.

      1. Mark
        October 30, 2015 at 11:54 pm EDT

I made the same switch, finding the opposite, getting many more (percentage-wise) sharp images. I rarely use the center focus point, so I think having all 19 focus points on the 70d be cross type really helps me. I was actually getting discouraged getting so many blurry images with the t3i, I’m quite happy with the upgrade.

      2. Nico
        October 31, 2015 at 4:39 pm EDT

The center focus point on the 70D has been an issue for many. Try using a different point for auto focus, and you should notice a difference.

    2. RK
      October 31, 2015 at 12:40 am EDT

I wouldn’t think it would be normal. The 70d is significantly better. Did you check your settings??

      1. Hans
        October 31, 2015 at 1:29 am EDT

All were shot in manual mode with the settings identical. As far the general settings are concerned, I did not check those.

    3. November 1, 2015 at 2:01 pm EDT

You may need to adjust the auto focus micro adjustment. My wife’s 70D needed adjustment for every lens we have. Not hard to do once you figure it out.

      November 6, 2015 at 4:05 pm EDT

I finally received my 5D Mark III yesterday (due to some FedEx issues). The shutter count was 13,147 and like you, was disappointed. I figured I would just keep it, so I put in the battery to test it out. There was no charge at all which was strange, since they usually carry enough of a charge out of the box to at least power the camera on. I have another 5DM3 so I used that battery. In the meantime, I put the “new” battery in a charger to charge overnight. This morning it still wasn’t charged – still flashing orange, and in fact, the battery and the charger were hot to the touch. I had a faulty battery. I contacted Canon and they offered to replace the battery. Then on a whim I mentioned the high shutter count and after being put on hold for 15 minutes or so, the representative said they would swap out the camera as well. The tech support guy was sympathetic when I told him what the shutter count was, so you might want to give Canon a call.

  212. October 30, 2015 at 11:27 pm EDT

Got my 7DII and took it out for a spin. Shuttercount was 734 so I think I did well.

  213. October 31, 2015 at 8:40 am EDT

Still haven’t received my 5D. FedEx is the worst. A bunch of liars. Especially LIC station in New York City. I will get it Monday night if I’m lucky. Scheduled delivery – last Thursday.

    1. Jason
      October 31, 2015 at 11:56 am EDT

Maybe see if you can pick it up at the FedEx facility…..can often times be less of a hassle.

      1. October 31, 2015 at 5:41 pm EDT

Requested that on Thursday, they still “attempted delivery” on Friday and pretended we weren’t home. Now Monday or Tuesday at pickup location. Hopefully.

Got my refurbished canon 6d, thanks CPW.
I noticed that the viewfinder had a smell, and when I removed the cover for where the lens attaches the smell was very strong. To me it smelled like mold, although I am thinking maybe it is a combination of rubber and oils inside the mechanisms. Has anyone else noticed this and can comment on it? I do not want to put on a my also new-to-me 24-70 f4 lens that I also got.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts

No, no smell to any of the cameras I picked up.

And if anyone was wondering, 1200+ shutter count for the 6D I picked up, and 24 count for the SL1. (I don’t know where to get the count for the 7D MkII. eoscount.com doesn’t work with it.)

Refurbished 5d mk iii arrived today. Less than a thousand on shutter count. Canon made it right after some pressure these last 10 days.
They honored the original Oct 24 pricing madness as well.
    Thanks Canon and thanks CPW.
