What to Expect from Amazon on “Prime Day”, Tuesday July 12th

We’re coming up to Amazon’s second annual “Prime Day”, on Tuesday July 12th. “Prime Day” is Amazon’s one-day shopping event, which they claim to have “more deals than Black Friday”. Access to the deals is restricted to Amazon Prime members only. As usual, CanonPriceWatch will be watching the deals.

Don’t expect deals on Canon cameras or lenses on Prime Day. Canon items are restricted by a MAP year-round and Prime Day is no exception. You can browse our summary of last year’s deals for examples, but we expect to see great prices on memory cards, filters, bags, Rokinon lenses, color calibration, studio equipment, and perhaps a Sigma lens or two. Deals sell out quickly, so be prepared to jump on them (or waitlist if you miss out.)

As the deals are restricted to Amazon Prime members only, now would be a good time to sign-up for a free 30-day trial of Prime if you haven’t yet already. Be sure to check back on Tuesday for the deals.

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

Right now is 20% off warehouse deals for prime members only today. Have to use code: WDEARLY20 or WDEARLY. Items must be shipped and sold by Amazon prime warehouse! Code works for high end electronics.

Commendation for a timely reminder and a very accurate assessment of Prime Day.

I’m a long time Amazon Prime member and I remember the near universal ‘flat’ reaction to last years deals / non-deals. Folks would do well check your 2015 link . Hopefully this year will be much better.

Overall Prime it is a remarkable service but the caveats are substantial.

Especially important: double check the Seller IN THE CART and the Delivery Date. We are active buyers on Amazon and lately have encountered several changes which Amazon immediately corrected, but if it was gear from an Authorized Dealer for Warranty it could be very serious.

For important orders I save screenshots of the order page. (In Windows it’s CTR+Print Screen then CTR+V to copy the image to any program that accepts images.) I copy to an email to myself so it will stack on the same date as the order. It’s saved my skin any number of times.

Hopefully a MAC user will add the Apple keystrokes.

Thank You for Canon Price Watch!!!

It already looks like the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and the Rokinon 14mm f2.8, as well as a few Rokinon Cine lenses will be on sale tomorrow morning.

Amazon calls it Prime day. I call it ‘Amazon cleaning out their warehouse because nobody was buying that crap day’.

Rokinon 14 goes on sale in the morning…. no price yet. 24mm not offered – at least yet.
