The 5D III is way overpriced both US/import compared to the more advanced Nikon D750 US version. No thanks!

@Joe S. Did you notice that this site is called CanonPriceWatch? Did you perhaps notice that up there in the logo of the site, or in the address line of your browser? If not, take a look. Canon is in the name, not Nikon. That means it’s about Canon gear. If you are interested in Nikon cameras, why the heck are you reading a Canon price watch web site and, worse, commenting on Canon prices on a Canon price watch web site. Why waste your own time and then waste other people’s time with irrelevant comments about another brand. Why don’t you please already buy your Nikon D750 US version and stop telling other people about how allegedly more advanced it is. Absolutely no one is here to read about the Nikon D750 US version or its pricing except perhaps you, although why you would do that is dumbfounding. No one gives a crap about your opinion about the price of Canon camera vs. a Nikon camera. No one.

@Bee Four – Did you notice that this site did not say you cannot post if you shoot Nikon? With your intelligent, you should have figured out that I also shoot Canon. In fact, I own the Canon 6D, Nikon D750 other Fuji as well.

“allegedly more advanced D750” If you have two cameras of different brands, what do you think you could do with them? Compare them maybe. Yes, the D750 is way more advance compared to the 6D, and the 6D is a bit better than the 5D III in terms of low light focusing ability and DR performance. In case you haven’t noticed, we do have this thing call freedom of speech. If you don’t give a crap, why did you reply? FYI, I also left a comment on the 5D Mrk IV page…IMO skip the 5D Mrk III and get the 5D Mrk IV!

Ignore the troll. That he has Nikon DSLR and Canon gear means he is a gear head, more into spending money on equipment than taking interesting images. I’m guessing he could give you a great definition of the word bokeh.

I know, right. I’m tempted to reply to his reply, but I won’t.

Excuse me now … I have to go post some annoying remark about some alleged Canon superiority on some Nikon-oriented web site. Because freedom of speech!

Haha, just kidding. I won’t do that. That would be stupid and annoying.

It will come down to low 1000 with 2-3 months

Not that low but will be a lot lower.

I doubt it will ever get that low, brand new. Supply has really dried up as Canon would never let the 5D Mark III cannibalize the 6D Mark II or undermine the 5D Mark IV with a price that low.

Joe, the D750 may be more advanced than the 5DIII in certain areas, but it’s also less advanced in others.

I shoot Canon and Sony (5DIII, 6D, 80D, and a Sony A7RII, all have their strengths and weaknesses). I mostly shoot weddings and professional real estate/architecture (Canons for weddings and Sony for real estate). Plus birds but only as a hobby.
My wedding photo partner shoots with a couple of D750s. Even though he’s been doing weddings longer than I have he considers me his inspiration and considers my wedding photos superior to his, and so do our clients to be honest. So it’s not all the camera, and I’m telling you this with great admiration towards both Canon and Nikon, I’m really not a fanboy.
It’s nonsense to believe that you can only capture great shots with one or the other. If you’re good with one, you’re good with the other too. And of course it all comes down to lenses as well.
Speaking of lenses, my partner ran into a bit of a problem when he could’t shoot his fast prime wide open at a recent sunny outdoor wedding due to the “less advanced” max shutter speed (1/4000) of the D750. 🙂 It’s good that my photos from my 5DIII didn’t blow out the bride’s dress while shooting f/1.4 (1/8000s). Eventually, he had to stop his lens down to preserve the highlights.
Going back to your original post, yes you have all the rights to post it but it’s somewhat pointless since nobody comes here to get pricing info, bang-for-the-buck tips (or quick advice on which is more or less advanced) on the D750, even people who respect both Canon and Nikon, such as myself.

@ Gabe – Thank you for your honesty and sincere feedback! Unlike BEE Four, who just get all upset and started to blast away with the fanboy mentality. I agree with most of your comments about different camera and equipment having their advantages and vice versa. This is one reason I shoot multiple platforms. I use Nikon for the DR, Canon glasses for IQ and Fuji is weight becomes an issue. Unfortunately, can’t have it both way with just one brand. However, I do not agree with your statement that people don’t come here for good deals from Canon. One of the reasons I signed up for the website notifications is because they often have good deals for Canon equipment. In fact, I bought my 70-200mm L IS II and couple other lens via their email. Therefore, pricing is important to me, and I’m sure it is important for others as well. At this point, with the 5D Mrk IV on it way, hopefully tomorrow, the 5D III is not desirable option IMO, because it’s price will drop even lower in a month or two. I guess people are upset with me because I used the name Nikon…

BTW, according to Ted, you too must be a GEAR HEAD and a bad photographer because you shoot both Canon and Sony, Just kidding…LOL.

Yes, I am defintely a gear head, that’s true 🙂

I think you misunderstood my last paragraph. I said people generally don’t come here for Nikon D750 deals and advice. But yes, we all do come here for Canon deals, I’ve been a subscriber here for quite a long time too and have found some excellent deals through CPW. So basically my point was that if someone ends up here at CANON Price Watch, they’re pretty much already made up their minds to purchase (mostly) Canon equipment. (Although there are lots of deals other than Canon such as tripods, third party lenses, etc.)

So what’s the verdict on the imported 5D mark iii for $1899? Is it worth buying now or should I wait for a some months since the 5d mark iv has just been released?
