EOS 6D + EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM for $1799 at Amazon

Amazon has a deal on the Canon EOS 6D with 24-105mm f/4L: they are selling it now for $1799.99, which is $200 off. This is yet another in a series of Amazon deals where they sneakily discount the item below MAP for a limited time.

Please also consider our street price of $1759.00, brand new from an authorized Canon dealer with a 1-year Canon warranty.

Because canon will never pull their authorized retailer status

That’s the advantage of being the #1 online retailer in the world. 🙂

6D MK II is dur out in July I think, I waited 6 months for the map to drop on the 5D MK III before I bought it through CPW 2 months ago AND now they are finally loosening their map

They’re not loosening the MAP, it’s Amazon deliberately violating MAP. They will probably get a warning letter from Canon over this, or perhaps something else…

CanonPriceWatch.com didn’t mean you were inaccurate, got a good price for a great camera through you guys 5D MK III $2199 I think it was, just think with the 6D MK II being released so soon why would anyone buy the 1st model until they see what kind of price and what features, the extra $1000 for the MK IV made up my mind on the MK III

Have you seen something that indicates it launches in July? I have not been following this too closely, so I don’t really know, but a quick google search didn’t even list any actual specs, let alone a launch date.

Amazon does everything with one thing in mind: Business.
It’s common practice for them to break MAPs if it means getting rid of soon to be old stock.
The manufacturers won’t do anything about it since Amazon is the largest online retailer and is extremely powerful. Denying them stock would simply be shooting one’s own foot.
Amazon ignored MAP with Dyson recently and Dyson responded by lifting MAP for all retailers for a limited time, and even had a sale on their own website. Lol.

Why would anyone buy from Amazon when the CPW street price is lower? I’ve bought a camera and 2 lenses using the CPW street price option. You can’t go wrong.

Some people have Amazon gift certificates, or really like using their Amazon Prime subscriptions…

All good reasons, I would also have to guess that for some people the 40 dollars to buy from Amazon is worth the piece of mind. I would bet people that have not done the street price thing might be a bit intimidated by it. But it was nice of pricewatch to list it as well.
