Orochi Maru wow if that’s the case, that’s a steal. Thanks.

They have changed the coupon to exclude the 5D Mark IV, so that deal is now dead.

Anyone having trouble with the discount code? I enter it but the 5D4 price stays at 2799. Not sure why.

Ok, called up Canon and placed the order the old fashioned way. The sales lady couldn’t get the code to work either, so can there is definitely some glitch with the website. She had to get a manager to override the price and give me the discount.

Looks like the coupon has been changed to exclude the 5D Mark IV. Probably a mistake in the first place…

Do you think they’ll honor the orders placed? My order says “inventory fulfilled” when I log into my Canon store account. I think that is a precursor for shipment if I remember right. Hopefully , they won’t cancel my order.

I called them but no luck. They said it’s excluded from the promo.

Just ordered a 6d without any issues. Great deal to get me through the door into full frame arena. Thanks CanonPriceWatch for the headsup!

Thanks, I saw your post yesterday with the restocking of lenses. Also stating that historically Canon has a Halloween sale and could retro the price 14 days.

So I ordered the 24-70 f2.8ii and called today about getting the difference refunded from the sale.

    1. October 27, 2017 at 6:38 pm EDT

That is the best and most pain-free way of landing popular lenses in the refurbished sale!

I ordered a 70-200 f2.8L IS USM II last night and got an email this evening saying my order had been cancelled. I called Canon to ask why and I was told that they ran out of stock. I checked earlier today and they were still in stock so I’m a little miffed. Anyone else have this problem?

Happens all the time, unfortunately. I had the same thing happen a few months ago with a 16-35 F4. The online stock numbers aren’t accurate, according to the salesperson I called when my order kept getting cancelled, so even though it may say it’s in stock, it may really be out. Sucks.

    2. October 31, 2017 at 10:31 am EDT

I had the same thing happen. What a load of crap, Canon.

In the past, for those of you who were promised a refund of the difference for refurb items that went on sale after your purchase, did Canon successfully follow through with issuing the refund?

I ordered and received a refurb 35L II last week, and it went on sale today for 15% off. I called and spoke with a CS rep who verbally promised me a refund of the difference that might take up to 1-2 billing cycles, but they stated that they were unable to provide me with any sort of written/electronic confirmation because “it had to go through the accounting department.”

If indeed Canon followed through for those of you in similar situations, I’d love to hear about it. Thanks!

Yeah they gave me my difference 3 months later.

Good to know, James – thanks for the reassurance. 3 months, though?

I’ve had other readers say it took 6-8 weeks, so that’s about right… be thankful though, because it’s always a mess during the sale and orders get randomly cancelled. If you buy pre-sale you’re mostly guaranteed to have one. 🙂

For those who were able to order a 5D4 with the 15% discount, have you received your shipping confirmation yet?

@CanonPriceWatch – can you tell us how often the 15% sales appear vs the 10% or even 20%?

    1. CanonPriceWatch
      October 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm EDT

Looking at the last two years, we see 15% off about 3 times a year, and 10% off about 8-9 times per year.

The three times for 15% are typically spring (March), fall (October), and Thanksgiving, but the Thanksgiving sale always has very little stock and too many people buying…

We haven’t seen 20%-off since March 2015 (except for the 2-hour 27% stacking coupon mistake for Halloween of 2015, instead of the intended 15%.)

“except for the 2-hour 27% stacking coupon mistake for Halloween of 2015, instead of the intended 15%.” That was a great time! Got my fav. lens for a crazy price.

Anyway, in the last 18 months I think that the refurbished inventory has slightly improved. More inventory and more 10% sales. Am I wrong?

    1. CanonPriceWatch
      October 27, 2017 at 6:34 pm EDT

Yes, there have more frequent 10% sales (they seem to have removed 20% sales completely, dropped the frequency of 15% sales, and also generally don’t have cameras affected by the x% sale — this one is a rare exception).

As for inventory, I think it’s the same as it’s always been, just that with less big sales, items sit around for longer.

Managed to grab a refurbished 5D4 before the coupon excludes it. Now shipment confirmed. Did it within 10 minutes of receiving email alert of this post. That’s why it is necessary to subscribe to deals alert lol

Yes, it’s important to be fast in these sales. Things can quickly sell out, or Canon can change the rules/eligibility on-the-fly. They also often have price mistakes (likely the 5D Mark IV was never intended to be discounted). If you can get your order in, it will ship — they don’t tend to cancel orders, even if the price is a mistake.

Got my 5D IV yesterday. Looks new, but I have no idea how to find the shutter count? Previous methods have failed for me.
