Live Again, at Adorama and B&H: 5D Mark IV $2849 AR, 6D Mark II $1349 AR with Bonuses, How to Sell Your Canon Battery Grip

These super-hot deals from Adorama and B&H Photo Video are both live again. They have hot bundles of the 6D Mark II for $1349 AR and of the 5D Mark IV for $2849 AR, after the $350 Canon USA mail-in rebate. Both stores are offering the same bundle — they’re giving a SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card and a genuine Canon LP-E6N Battery Pack on top of the free Canon battery grip (BG-E21 Battery Grip for EOS 6D Mark II or BG-E20 Battery Grip for EOS 5D Mark IV), PIXMA PRO-100, and photo paper. A free 13-month Canon CarePAK PLUS extended warranty is also included.

An incredibly hot deal that has been going in-and-out of stock, don’t miss out.

Many readers are asking: what if I don’t want the vertical battery grip? There is a decent used market for the Canon BG-E20 battery grip (for now). The used market (via eBay) is trending to $225-$250 for a BG-E20 in New or Like-New condition. Used dealer KEH Camera is offering about $137 (net, as it includes pre-paid shipping) for a BG-E20 battery grip in Like New condition, a very pain-free option. The market will get saturated quite quick, so we recommend locking your price in with a 2-minute quote at KEH Camera if you’re looking to sell. The BG-E21 for 6D Mark II is too new and a stable used market hasn’t developed yet for that grip. We’ll continue to look for opportunities. Don’t want the printer? PIXMA PRO-100 print heads are reselling at around $85 and ink sets are stable at $95. Net of shipping and selling fees you should make $120-130 from printer components. Or, enjoy the fabulous printer.

I guess I should have waited just a little bit longer.

Bh won’t honor it they want to send me a prepaid stamp to send back what they sent me and they will replace it with a SD card and battery

    1. November 23, 2017 at 11:48 pm EDT

That sounds reasonable? There’s no cost to you to swap your accessories for the better ones? Did you expect to get both sets of freebies?

    2. November 24, 2017 at 4:11 am EDT

Wasn’t it the same and a add on of that sd card and battery or maybe I’m confused

    3. November 24, 2017 at 10:43 am EDT

Did they already send you the previous set of freebies, which was the 3rd party battery and the SanDisk Extreme (non-PRO) memory card? If so, I think it’s reasonable that they ask for those back in exchange for the new upgraded freebies.

CanonPriceWatch.com I don’t know I’m just going off the messages you guys posted that the made the package better and to ask for the upgrade. I got the original 1300 bundle. I believe no battery or dd card.

Could I expect a similar deal on the 5d Mark IV next year around this time? Is this a once in a lifetime type deal?

    1. November 23, 2017 at 11:43 pm EDT

Maybe not this exact deal. It is not common you would see all the bonus stuff be something that is useful like this. Normally it would be third party crap, especially for something like a battery. This deal is kind of special due to all the bonus stuff being Canon brand and a pretty good mem card (though you will want to get a good CF card for the other slot). If you have the money and were looking to get a 5D, this is the deal. If you don’t have the money, and need to save until next year, then I am sure there will be 5D deals. Also, something I have been wanting to point out is that Adorama offers 12 month 0% interest on their card. I am not sure if BH has that offer. But for anyone that is short on cash ATM but wants this deal, that gives the edge to Adorama.

        +1

The other thing I’d add is, one year from now, the 5D Mark IV will be in a different part of its lifecycle. You can’t really compare deals on cameras across years like that. It’ll probably be available for less, but it will also be one year older technology by then. (The trolls will be out in full force.)

This is a great time to buy as the camera just had a large price drop + a strong promotional bundle. It’s conceivable we won’t see a price like this again for another 4-6 months.

Thank you to you both for your comments. They are very helpful! Do you think these deals will last through tomorrow?

  5. November 23, 2017 at 11:56 pm EDT

I do not even need this camera but this deal is so good it is kind of hard to pass up.

    1. November 24, 2017 at 12:53 am EDT

I’ve had it in cart at least a dozen times, trying to convince myself how it would step up my portrait game and be better for low light shooting than my 80D. Those things are true, but I have managed to avoid pulling the trigger. Going up to full frame is more than jsut a new body, but it also means new lenses too. Expensive ones.

I am very torn as well. Started with a G2 then a 40D then a 6D in Feb 2013. Such a great deal but I can’t say I “need” it, yet I can’t stop thinking about getting this. Somebody help!

        1. November 24, 2017 at 6:27 pm EDT

Anthony – you already have a 6D, so I think these are the questions you need to ask: Do you need 4k (or do you even shoot video)? Do you need more FPS (7 on the 5DIV I think the 6D is 4)? Do you need more resolution (most common reason is for larger prints). Do you already have all the lenses you will be using (6D and 5D use the same EF lenses)? Low light is not a concern, since the 6D is already quite good there, and the 6D is already good at portraits as well being it is a full frame (those are the two biggest reasons to move up from APS-C in my mind). I feel like it comes down to those 3 questions, especially the lenses. If you don’t yet have the 70-200mm F2.8 IS ii, then that is probably a better use of this money. The thing that makes this deal so good is the bonuses; the price is only a little better than street, (or maybe the same? Not sure off hand). In any case, if your 6D is getting it done, there is little more the 5D offers for this much money. Lenses, that is my advice to you.

          November 24, 2017 at 6:42 pm EDT

Thank you Kevin! I am not really interested in the 70-200 2.8 IS II. I have the 100-400 IS II, 70-200 F4 IS (which I should sell because of the 100-400 II but maybe my wife would use it :-), 24-105 F4 IS L I, 17-40 L, 50 1.4 and 40 2.8 pancake. My reasons for wanting the 5D IV are better DR, better focusing, (and now and then for the faster frame rate) over the 6D. I would use the 4k video in hopes of getting some good stills and to dabble in 4k. I would appreciate the crop factor at 4k for say wildlife with the 100-400. Would probably add a 1.4 TC at some point. My wife who is just getting her feet wet in DSLR (with 40D) would take over the 6D.

Reason for hesitation is that this is only a hobby. It’s my only hobby though.

        3. November 24, 2017 at 6:41 pm EDT

I give in. I’ve been doing all the pros and cons, and it came down to this: I currently use an 80D, which is no slouch. I really stepped up my game once I had that body and the 70-200mm F2.8 to shoot with, and now also the 17-55mm F2.8. But, even with those lenses, I still struggle against noise in low light. I shot a band practice in some terrible lighting and used a flash. I still had to shoot at ISO 400 and 800 to avoid overly noisy photos. The 5D will kill the 80D in low light, and I really want to shoot more bands and similar events. Also, portraits are jsut better on a FF. Not that I wasn’t getting it done with the 80D there, but the closer you can stand with the same focal length produces better bokeh, sharper details, and better color/contrast. You start to lose that as you back away. Not to mention Adorama has 0% 12 month financing, which overcomes the only real con I had; I spent all my new gear money already! So with that, I can drop the tax return into it as well as holiday cash, and it’s all but paid for. Now, anybody want to buy printer? I’ll throw in some luster paper! 🙂

        4. November 24, 2017 at 6:59 pm EDT

Anthony – 2 things here. For one, it sounds like you are a little more than a hobbyist with all that hardware, I would say you are stepping into enthusiast territory, and expensive ordeal BTW. I did forget the focusing is a huge upgrade on the 5D. But if wildlife shooting is you game, then I would think the 7D mkii is a better option. 10 FPS, a buffer you would be hard pressed to fill, and the crop factor is actually an advantage for wildlife shots. Put your 100 to 400mm on that and now it’s 160-498. And since you are likely to crop wildlife photos anyway, you lose less resolution doing it this way. The other thing I want to say; it seems you think the 100-400mm is basically the 70-200mm x2. It’s not. The 70-200mm is probably the best lens in the canon line, and excels at nearly all types of photography, especially portraits on that 6D and high speed action on anything that can handle it (like a 7D mkII). When you factor in the loss of 1-2 stops of light, it is significant, especially in the situations it excels at. The 70-200mm F4 is good, but doesn’t do the work the F2.8 can. Bokeh comes out much creamier on the F2.8 and it is better for stopping action in low light. So I would say, grab a 7DmkII and trade in the F4 IS for an F2.8 IS ii.

I’m with you! I loved to have this Mark IV at such a great deal. However, with lenses, I end up paying around 5-6K in a near future and I’m not a pro. I purchased a EOS M6 since it’s a camera I can always have and use and I already have a decent system for it.

        November 29, 2017 at 11:13 pm EDT

Full frame gives you more options, but a used 5d Mark II or III is a better buy as far as ROI. Or 6d Mk I.

  6. November 24, 2017 at 10:12 am EDT

This is a strong deal. I used it as an opportunity to upgrade my backup camera. 5D mark iv is a beautiful camera and the low light performance is stellar. Thanks for the notice.

  7. November 24, 2017 at 6:43 pm EDT

Ok, order placed, used the 0% financing. It’s been several minutes and I am still seeing “authorizing transaction”, with no other options available. Anyone else have this going on? I am not even sure how to handle this, as there is no cancel button or anything so I can try again. I tried calling and got a message that they are closed for the day. Gordon, got a suggestion? Anyone?

    1. November 24, 2017 at 7:36 pm EDT

Update on this. The order didn’t go through. The 0% financing is through their credit card, and it takes 7-10 days to process the card. If you don’t already have the card I guess you can’t do this option. Talked to a very knowledgeable and clueless service rep at the card company and all she could say is try calling adorama, who is closed for the day, and I don’t know if they are back before monday. So update is, if you were looking to do 0% financing then you better already have an adorama card, or else it doesn’t work. Very pissed off that this was an option at checkout and it doesn’t work for 7-10 days, which is way too late for the deal. Why would it even be a checkout option if you can’t even use it for what you are buying today? Adorama? More Adoramateurs.

Sorry to hear about the issues with the 0% financing at Adorama. Sorry, I have nothing to suggest here because I don’t know how their store card or their store financing works. 🙁

      1. November 25, 2017 at 3:25 am EDT

It’s cool dude. I talked to a different rep from the bank once I realized the first one was full of shit, and he explained that for one the other rep clearly was full of shit, but for two that the application was in the system. And becasue I was not approved immediately that means something was wrong, which could be any number of things, all of which require additional processing, none of which could be done before next week. So at least I know. I guess if someone wanted to try for the 0% financing it might be different for them. But for me, it killed my chance to do this deal. Which I think I have come to terms with, since I had talked myself out of it so many times already. Truthfully, I was only interested in the low light performance, and even though I know it is better than the 80D I have for that, I don’t feel I have really pushed my camera to that point yet. Like, I haven’t done enough shooting with it in low light to know what I can and can’t get away with. So really, if it weren’t for the special bundle deal, I would have already turned this offer down anyway. Congrats to all that got it though, as it is a pretty great deal.

I can’t believe this deal is still active! It is so tempting; if not for whatever went wrong with my credit ap I would have bought this saturday. Well, it turns out that both BH and Adorama accept Paypal, which does 6 months 0%. I have already decided it was for the best that I did not get it, but it would make my life a whole lot easier if they would jsut stop tempting me. They are both the devil. That is all. 🙂

A 5d Mk III is a hell of a lot less expensive and almost as good. Just saying. I have both and honestly, I’d be pretty pleased as punch if I didn’t have the IV. Honestly, I cannot say I’ve really used any of the additional features yet except the viewfinder leveler (which is really really convenience). Otherwise, it just feels like a new car vs a 3 yr old one. Enough upgrades to be different, but basically the same.

I cannot believe this is still active. If I didn’t buy a Mark IV from their last refurb sale, I would be all over this.
