What and When to Expect from Canon Black Friday Deals 2017

Here’s a quick summary of what and when to expect from Canon as we head into the Black Friday season. In this post, we’ll cover deals on Canon cameras and lenses, as well as the expected timing of refurbished, grey market, and Amazon deals.

New Cameras — 5D Mark IV and 6D Mark II — Already Here!

The deals on the 5D Mark IV and 6D Mark II are already here, and we don’t expect improvements for Black Friday. The 5D Mark IV + freebies (including the BG-E20 grip) is $2849 after mail-in rebate at B&H or Adorama. The 6D Mark II (with same freebies) is $1349 after mail-in rebate at B&H or Adorama now expired. We also have street price bundles. We don’t know if these deals will last until Black Friday, B&H’s site says the deals expire tonight.

Cameras — Everything Else — Starting Midnight ET Tonight

We’re hearing noise on the 5D Mark III and 6D, and wouldn’t be surprised if they get discounted further. The Canon rebate period switches over at midnight ET tonight, so please check back then if you’re looking for a deal, quantities are limited on these discontinued bodies. Our street prices on the EOS 80D and EOS-1D X Mark II are newly lowered to the lowest price of the season.

Lenses — Black Friday Street Price Sale Already Running

Our Black Friday street prices sale on lenses has been running for a week and have been popular. We have some terrific prices and we don’t expect them to decrease further. We typically don’t see advertised deals for lenses on Black Friday (generally just camera deals), but you never know. Best-sellers below:

Sigma Art Lenses have already been discounted ($100-off, Free Dock, 4% rewards on select lenses) and have been very popular this entire week. It’s a great week to invest in some excellent Sigma Art glass.

Refurbished — Likely Starting Midnight ET Tonight

The Canon Direct Store‘s “Pre-Black Friday Sale” ends tonight, and will likely be followed up with their Black Friday sale at midnight ET tonight. It’s customary for them to have a %-off discount on refurbished lenses, and perhaps they’ll do the same on refurbished cameras. You can scope out what you’d like by heading over to our refurbished stock tracker and seeing the available inventory. Many desirable items are still in-stock. Setup a notification (or an alarm) and be ready at midnight ET tonight for the sale.

Used dealer KEH Camera historically has run their Black Friday deals on the actual day itself, so check back at midnight ET tomorrow (after turkey) for their savings and specials.

Grey Market — Already Started, But Not Impressive

In the past the grey market camera deals were the star of the Black Friday deals, but this year they’ve already started and are not impressive. This year they are headlined by the 5D Mark IV for $2549 and the 6D Mark II for $1499. They’re not selling, and we’re not surprised, because the authorized dealer deals are so much better — between the Canon USA warranty, Canon CarePAK PLUS extended warranty, and all the other freebies it’s worth the price differential to go with the authorized dealers.

Accessories — Amazon, Adorama, B&H, and Other Deals

Amazon has already started their Black Friday Deals Week, but the real big deals will begin at 9 PM ET on Thursday and last through Black Friday (11:59 PM Pacific Time.) We haven’t seen much yet in their Black Friday Deals Week but we’re still holding out hope for great accessories, filters, and 3rd party lens deals during their main event.

B&H and Adorama have been quiet on the accessories front — except for some decent B&H DealZone deals, and Adorama FlashPoint XPLOR and Speedlight deals, or MacBook Pro deals. We expect both stores to be active beginning tomorrow and lasting through Cyber Monday with tons of savings on photography accessories.

As always, the deals will be ever changing, so please do check back often, and sign-up for e-mail notifications to be the first to hear about the new deals. We’ll be covering the deals 24 hours per day through Cyber Monday. If we miss anything, please be sure to let us know via the contact form, and we’d be happy to share it with the CPW community. Thanks for following, and Happy Thanksgiving! We’re grateful for the support that you show us year-round.

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

Adorama still shows the 6D Mark ii bundle for $1350, and says price is guaranteed through Monday, yet you show it as expired. Am I missing something?

When I go to their site, I see it for “$2,049.00 — $1,699.00 After Mail-in Rebate”, not $1350. Although it seems to change on an hour-to-hour basis.

We all have a lot to be thankful for, but I’d like to publicly recognize and thank CanonPriceWatch for providing so much help and savings to the Canon community. CPW is not some large company…it is run by someone that is passionate about helping others. On numerous occasions, he has helped me determine if now is the best time to buy gear or if I should wait. And I’m not exaggerating when I say this: CPW has saved me thousands of dollars over the years. Yes, thousands. Thanks CPW for everything you do and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Bryan, Jason, Mark & Bob for your kind words and encouragement. I really enjoy helping the Canon community save money — it’s become quite a unique passion of mine. Thanksgiving is always a hectic time but so full of excitement. 🙂

Never previously commented, but I’ve been a loyal follower for years and have bought literally thousands of dollars worth of items through CPW and Gordon’s links. Just completed a major purchase today thanks to the Street Price program.

Although I’ve spent more than my limit now, I’m still curious if we will see any great deals on the newer Sigma and Tamron lenses this season.

Hi, what do you mean when you say the rebate period switches over tonight? Doesn’t the rebate form say it applies until 12/31? Or are you saying they’re coming out with a new promotions ID?

Hi Bob, sorry, I should have been more explicit. The instant rebate period switches over tonight, which is a fresh opportunity for price changes by Canon USA.

The current printer mail-in rebate period remains until December 31st.

I don’t need the printer or the vertical grip. What I do want is the 5D Mark IV from an authorized dealer at a near grey-market price. CanonPriceWatch, please make this happen!

Have you seen any of the black friday deals on macbook pros ever go below the listed sale prices that are up now?

      November 23, 2017 at 12:07 pm EDT

“Ever” is such a strong word 🙂

I haven’t seen lower prices than the current prices, on the current models. If you’re asking if I’ve ever seen MacBook Pros (any models) discounted below current levels, I won’t be able to answer that as I’ve only followed 2016 and 2017 MBP pricing.
