Hot: EF 50mm f/1.8 STM (New) + UV Filter $110 BeachCamera eBay

That was fast: we’re already seeing a great deal — 12%-off the newly released Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM (yes, this is the new one.) It’s only $110 (reg. $125) from authorized Canon dealer BeachCamera via eBay, and it includes a free UV filter!

Add coupon code “C15FATHERSDAY” at checkout.
Coupon expires June 9th or until sold out.

This is a fantastic deal on an already amazingly priced lens. If you prefer a different authorized dealer you can get the same price from Adorama via eBay — unfortunately, no free UV filter. You also need the same “C15FATHERSDAY” coupon code for the Adorama deal.

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

    The Adorama listing says $125.

Did you add the coupon code for the Adorama listing?

Thanks Steve. Yes, the Adorama listing also requires the same coupon code.

Don’t you mean, “Thanks, Steve and Carl”? Hmmmmm?

You can save a bit ($5) more by buying the $100 eBay e-gift card for $95 (on their Daily Deals page) and then using that code along with the coupon for the purchase.

I have this lens and it is crazy sharp! IMO just as sharp and clean as any 50mm L glass and better than the original plastic fantastic

Adorama now insists that the coupon code applies only to the Beach Camera offer and that they never had a similar deal. I am discussing the matter patiently with them.

Thanks. I’ll bring the screenshot to their attention.

But only if you use PayPal, apparently. Too bad, I was going to buy one.

A quick update, one that I have posted more or less verbatim to the other relevant blog entry’s comment list:

I have been trading emails with Adorama this afternoon. The email support seems a little less overmatched than the chat support. We’ll see whether they can step up to the plate by the time Day Two rolls around.

Since the discount is from ebay, Adorama might not know what you’re talking about… You may want to consider purchasing a second one, entering the code, and cancelling the first one.

  12. June 8, 2015 at 8:53 pm EDT

    That’s a good deal

  13. June 9, 2015 at 12:20 am EDT

    Just ordered one. 🙂

That’s going to be one seriously shitty uv filter. Best to use that as a coaster. All it will protect you from is good photos.

Day Two Update: Adorama has indicated that they will contact eBay and see about having the discount applied. I telephoned eBay myself, and they told me they were helpless to issue a $15 credit to my account and that I should, of all things, contact the seller. As the sane readers of this blog might imagine, I am not going to leave it at that.

Week Two Update: Eventually, I decided I didn’t want the lens even for $110. I refused delivery and got a refund. If it’s easier to get the entire amount refunded than the $15, ..
