Canon Mail-in and Instant-Rebates End Saturday, January 4th

Last call: to be eligible for the Canon mail-in rebate you must complete your purchase by Saturday, January 4th, 2014. We haven’t heard anything about these rebates being extended.

L-Lens prices are at their lowest levels in years, and there are many lenses with double-dips offered, where the store has further discounted below the mandated minimum price. The Canon instant rebates on entry-level and mid-level items are also scheduled to expire on the same day.

You can see pages detailing the rebated items at B&H, Amazon, or Adorama. Note, you need to add to cart and proceed to checkout to enable the deal at most stores.

If you’ve already bought something in this rebate period, don’t forget to mail your rebate claim! Submissions must be post-marked by February 4th, 2014, we compiled some tips and tricks for ensuring you get your claim, and in cash too!

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

Do you guys think we’ll have deals even lower by Feb-March?

    1. January 3, 2014 at 10:45 am EDT

Hard to say. It depends on overall Canon supply and sales/demand. Traditionally the holiday season has always been the best deal season, with prices going up in the spring and staying high through summer, but if Canon has trouble meeting sales targets they’ll offer more rebates.

I’ll also say that if the lens you’re looking at is already double-dipped then now is the time.

CPW, on the rebate form, it says “1 rebate per lens per household” Do you know if I can buy 2 different lenses and still be elligible with one address?

Yes. Just not two copies of the same lens.

B&H is closed on January 4th (they close on Saturdays), but their online shopping system does come back online around 6:30PM EST that night. If you were to order on the 4th between 6:30PM EST and midnight, would your Invoice Date still say January 4th, or would B&H usually push the Invoice Date to January 5th? Just asking, because if it does the latter then you’d be one day late for the mail-in rebate.

I’ve done exactly that before — order from B&H on the last Saturday of a rebate after they re-open. Your invoice date will be January 4th, just don’t wait until the last minute. 🙂

I decided to check one of my past B&H orders, which was made on a Sunday. The receipt actually listed two dates: “Order Date” and “invoice Date”. The receipt read that the Order Date was that Sunday (I made the order at 10AM), but the Invoice Date was listed as the day after. Hmm….should I be worried?

To clarify the 2 concerns are:
          1) Will B&H push the Invoice Date one day past the Order Date
          2) Does the Canon Rebate form ask for the Invoice Date or Order Date? (I read the form, and it’s not clear)

I just checked some of my past B&H invoices and I’ve never had that happen to me before. When I view my invoices online I only see one date, which is the date of my order. Unfortunately I don’t have my paper invoices on me at the moment, but I have submitted rebates using online printouts before, so it should be sufficient…

If you view the order online, it just says Order Date. But if you click the link called “Export as PDF” you will get the officially-formatted invoice, and it will list both the Order and Invoice dates.

Okay. I see. Yes, one order (that I placed at 11:40 PM) was pushed to the next day’s invoice date.

I think if you followed up with a call to B&H they’d be able to ensure the correct date is noted on your invoice. They probably want you to be eligible for the rebate (or you’d just return the lens).
