eBay Frenzy: 5D Mark III + 24-105L Import for $2699 GetItDigital

This Cyber-Monday deal is back: Get It Digital via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105L IS Kit for $2699.99. This ties the Cyber-Monday deal for the lowest price to-date for this kit.

Please note, this is an import, a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed; Canon USA historically warrants grey market bodies, but this is at their discretion. Also note, GetItDigital‘s other storefront AllNewShop is known to call to attempt an up-sell to the USA model (claiming the 5D Mark III import model is inferior, which it is not), please be aware of this.

For the record, Canon hasn’t confirmed anything yet, it is just a rumor that things will be announced. I will say that I too have heard the same dates and info, but we don’t like to post rumors, so…

I purchased this deal shortly after you posted it on January 26th. Got a call yesterday to talk about shipping and they did try to up-sell me by $200, though they did not claim that import model is inferior–just that I will need to send it to them to be repaired rather than to Canon. The caller (a very friendly guy) also mentioned that firmware updates are not possible with the import model. Is there a level of truth to this? Thank you for all of your great information.

No, import bodies can be upgraded to latest firmware. Decline the upgrade and buy the “import”. They are right in that import bodies (by the book) do not come with Canon USA warranty, however, Canon USA is known to warrant import bodies at this time. They can, however, change that policy at any time.

Thank you. Because of your post I knew to decline the offer.
