The 50MP EOS 5Ds and EOS 5Ds R will be available to pre-order at most major camera stores tonight at midnight ET, according to the availability date listed on B&H’s site.
Availability is scheduled for the end of June.
Savvy readers have noticed that Camera Canada, an authorized Canon Canada dealer, already has the cameras available for pre-order. After adding shipping (about $40) and converting to USD at current exchange rates, the final price is about $350-$400 less than the US dealer price, about a 10% savings.
- EOS 5Ds: $4099.00 (Canadian $), final price approx. $3350 USD
- EOS 5Ds R: $4299.00 (Canadian $), final price approx. $3500 USD
Historically, Canadian camera bodies have come with Canon USA and Canada warranty cards good for warranty in both countries, but this is yet to be confirmed specifically for the EOS 5Ds.
Worth it to buy Canadian for $400 savings IMO

Neat, now when are you gonna release what we want? The mkiv? 🙂
This camera will be a flop. No one cares about the most megapixels. Does canon want to lose more customers to nikon with this garbage upgrade. .
crop frame or full frame?
seeing as it doesn’t have a white square, without any other info id say FF
Full-Frame.
I believe they have the ability to shoot both from the product description.
That 50mp though!
Who ever said people don’t care about Mehapixels is fooling themselves.
You can get a.sony a7r for half the price
Kinda disappointed they’re still using Canon sensors
Sony a77 II has the fastest and most advanced af system in the world
Maybe in your dream world. Nothing I have seen supports that.
