UPDATE: Sold out.
A few dealers have not completely sold their first allocation of the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM, we now have a street price available on this lens: $2839. Ready to ship tomorrow, brand new from an authorized Canon dealer with a 1-year Canon USA warranty.
We only have a handful available — first-come, first-served.
Compare with $2999 (out of stock) at B&H or Adorama. Check out this PetaPixel review full of sample photos.
We’re also hearing that the 5DS and 5DS R pre-orders will be opening soon. Keep your eyes peeled for that, or set a notification if you’d like to get e-mailed when this happens.
Well then, I’ll take 2!
F/4, no thanks.
Why would it not go to 2.8?
f2.8 on an 11mm would produce too much vignetting. Remember it’s not always about shooting wide open. When you do that you are utilizing the fringes of the lenses where there’s more distortion and CA. I’m assuming the engineers at Canon could have continued the barrel markings to f2.8 but then the reviews would have been horrendous. Plus the barrel would have been almost as big as a coffee can to compensate. Every lens has a sweet spot for f-stop to focal length.
thats an absurd price for a lens that isnt even an f/1.4 or f/1.8 or f/2.8.
this crap is way overpriced.
Hannah Bear: you gave me a good laugh with your comment. You betray your lack of knowledge of optics and photography with your remarks.
Do you realize that to create this lens in an f1.4 version would require that it be huge and probably well over $10,000…even an f2.8 version would be significantly larger and more expensive.
And f4 is fine for what this lens will be used for: mostly landscape photography in daylight. Pair this up with the new 5ds/r and you will have photographic heaven.
To call this optical masterpiece a “piece of crap” is the height of ignorance.
+1
Thich wa di
I would never pay that much…. Ever. How about $839 maybe.
“It’s a game changer with no distortion at 11mm” What do you guys know? You know nothing John Sno…whatever.

Would rather have the cine lens at T1.5
Why would you need to shoot at 11mm at F/1.4? Other than astrophotography?
This lens is a bargain – make no mistake. Not for everyone, of course, but neither is a 300/2.8 …
Canon is too overprice
Looks like dream lens to me. I would love have one. I am not surprised it is an f4 given how large the front element would need to be to make it any faster.
