Authorized Canon and Tamron dealer Cameraland via eBay has a few great deals on demo items. They state in the listing: “This camera opened for an in-store demo event. It is in NEW condition, no actuations, supplied in the original box with all accessories and paperwork. Perfect condition. Never owned by a customer.” Tax is collected only to NY state.
Our readers report that when purchasing such “store demos” from Cameraland, the cameras or lenses were indistinguishable from brand new, with a full warranty, and eligible for rebates. Note that store demos are generally not restricted by manufacturer minimum advertised price policies.
They only have one of each of the following:
- Canon EOS 5Ds for $3099.99 vs. Reg. $3699
- Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 SP Di VC USD for Canon for $1149.99 AR vs. Reg. $1449
- Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD for Canon for $949.99 vs. Reg. $1069
- Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 DI VC USD for Canon for $969.99 vs. Reg. $1199

They also have store demos of the Tamron 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD (APS-C lens) for $499.99, versus $629.00.

For you I’d still say 5d3. The s has higher noise for sure
For surf photos though, I can’t imagine the possibilities
May as well get the R, then
I just pushed an 800 ISO file +1.0 exposure and +100 shadows and removed pretty much all the noise with Topaz Denoise
