As previously warned, the Canon rebate period ended yesterday, and we’ve seen some changes to the rebates. Here’s a recap of everything that happened at midnight:
- The long-running mail-in rebate has finally ended. The lens mail-in rebates were not renewed, so there was an increase in the price of lenses as of today.
- Canon started instant rebates on lenses. In most cases, however, the instant rebate is less than the expired mail-in rebate amounts (some are the same). So this is a net increase in price on most Canon lenses. We’re happy to see instant rebates (instead of mail-in) but unfortunately instant rebate promotions never seem to be as good as mail-in rebates. Our street prices do not yet factor in these instant rebates, we expect to have our street prices aligned within the next couple days.
- Canon started a mail-in rebate on printers only. This mail-in rebate is the same value as before (up to $350, when you purchase printer + camera + paper). So the B&H and Adorama bundle deals or BuyDig 70D deal still live on, although B&H is now showing “back-ordered” again on printers.
- The Creative Cloud + KelbyOne Promotion is still active and runs until October 3rd.
The mail-in rebates, instant rebates, and Creative Cloud promotion all expire on October 3rd. Barring any major surprises, we’re not expecting any price changes until then.
I guess this is a whole new promotion (different promo ID) even thought the promotions are pretty much the same. My question is will I be able to file a whole new rebate (with new qualified purchase, of course) since the rebate form has a new promotion ID. Thanks.
Yes, if the rebate form has a completely new promotion ID, you are eligible for this, even if you participated in the previous rebate.
Thanks so much!
I am looking at the 5d mark iii kit with printer and paper for $2499 at BH. Canon came out with a new rebate form for $350 AMEX rebate card until Oct 3, 15. http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer?pageKeyCode=53 . Called BH and sales guy says this rebate does not apply since there’s an instant $863 savings which brings the kit price down to $2499. But when I called Canon rebate rep, lady told me the rebate is valid for the product kit I will be purchasing which will bring price down to $2150 AR. Humm….. who to believe….

Yes, it’s active again because of the new mail-in rebate.
Yes. That is the exact deal I was looking at. Just purchased the kit. Thanks for all the information you have provided on your website. A++.
