Review of Complete Photography Bundle III: eBooks & Videos for $127

The Complete Photography Bundle is back for the 3rd time! The folks at 5daydeal have put together a great bundle of photography eBooks, videos, and presets for only $127. It’s a resource that covers many aspects of photography, from lighting design to landscape photography, from shooting techniques to post-processing in Lightroom or Photoshop. This bundle is only available for the next 5 days, until September 15th.

Just like last year, all the products are digital delivery — after purchase you’re given a link to download the videos. You’ll need a fast connection, there’s more than 30GB to download!

We’ve had a chance to review some of the material in advance, and we have written a short first-impressions review of the Complete Photography Bundle III. Read more for more details.

We spent a couple days going through the Complete Photography Bundle III. As with last year, there’s a ton of material, and we’ve only scratched the surface. As a whole, I think the average quality of the products in the bundle has significantly improved. Although there’s no centerpiece product this year (last year’s Zack Arias Onelight 2.0 springs to mind), there’s much less “filler” material, and no incomplete or teaser products. Overall we’d recommend looking at the list of products, and if there’s two or three that interest you, take the plunge into the bundle.

store_ad_-_landscape_and_travel_photography Our favorite video product by far was Trey Ratcliff’s New Zealand Tutorial, which is a recording of a photography workshop held by Trey in New Zealand — the first 2.5 hours are Trey taking you on-location, showing you how he sets up HDR landscape shots in gorgeous New Zealand; this is followed up by 1.5 hours of Trey editing those very shots in Lightroom. We also thoroughly enjoyed the tutorials from Joel Grimes, showing a start-to-finish post-processing of two photos (one hour each) in a fine-art style; and we always enjoy watching Zach Arias work — this time in a “behind the scenes”-style video as he works through an editorial shoot.

There were several “talking-head / interview” style videos: a series on newborn photography and another on kid photography. We generally don’t like these as much as the the practical, hands-on videos, but the videos did seem full of useful information (if you can get past the fact that they’re a bit boring to watch.)

The Zach Arias One Light Field Guide is an inspiring 88-page guide with beautiful samples of Zach’s work interspersed with lighting diagrams and notes on how he did it. Richard Schneider has a 134-page eBook on Cityscape photography, covering a broad range of aspects, from architectural photography to urban photography, both indoors and outdoors. A lengthy guide from Dan Carr on SEO (search engine optimization) for photographers is full of useful tips for attracting more traffic to your photography website. There are also a few eBooks on the ethos of photography from David DuChemin.

The above is just a subset of the material available in the Complete Photography Bundle III — we definitely didn’t have time to go through all of it. Not everything in the bundle is for everyone, but even if you find one or two products in there that are useful to you, it will make it worth it. Check it out, over at the 5daydeal page, but please remember it’s only available until September 15th.
