Same here, Richard Russell. The pricing on this confuses me. Which camera is the supposed to be the crop flagship again?

How does this confuse you? The 7D Mark II new release price was $1,799. It’s only after discounts and time did the price drop to $1,100. The 80D will also drop in price.

David, but the 7D Mark II is readily available at that price today–at the time of the 80D release. I’m not confused that pricing is/was higher with an expectation to drop; I’m confused that the pricing is high enough to match the current available pricing of the flagship.

Yes, in time pricing should normalize and the 80D top-of-the-line pro-sumer model should drop below the flagship crop. But for right now, given the choice between the two at the same price point I’m not sure why I would ever choose the 80D over the 7D Mark II.

I sold my 7D2 that I hardly ever used due to the low DR and excessive digital noise.

All depends on what you’re shooting I guess. Most of the time , noise from this camera comes from not exposing properly.

Can’t wait to see reviews and how it scores at DXO Mark.

I paid the full $1200 for my 80D and am happy with it, especially after buying my 70D for $750, using it for almost a year and then selling it for $790. 😉

The mail-in rebate is until July. A few of the instant rebates expired on April 2nd, but many are still available, so the deal is still active.
