One of the most overlooked deals in the currently active refurbished sale is the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM for only $219.99, which is the lowest price we’ve seen yet for this lens.
Regular price is $349 for brand new; this refurbished lens is a 37% discount. Canon refurbished items come with a 1-year Canon USA warranty. We’re not surprised to see this lens discounted given how stellar the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM is (also currently on sale for $89.79 refurbished). Seems legit
I hope this means a new version is coming out soon.
Plus $18 tax

I’d take my 50 1.8 STM over this any day. Great price though!

Stephanie Kenton you’ll probably like the Sigma better. I had the Canon 1.4 before. It was great but my 35mm 1.4 is better LOL
Fwiw this is a very fragile lens in my experience and I regret buying it (previously through a private party used sale). I own the Canon 28mm f/1.8 and this 50mm is sadly nowhere near as good as that lens.
Fragile in the sense that you will break internal focusing parts with the lightest bump on the front of it. I’m not even talking about dropping it, it’s just very fragile.
That’s means version 2 is coming soon.
The new 50mm 1.8 STM smokes this lens and it’s only $125 brand new. I own both.
I have this lens and love it. Great for astrophotography.
Bought this lens last month- good build quality and nice bokeh but surprisingly its softer ( even at f 2) and slower than it’s less expensive sibling 50 mm 1.8 ii. Don’t think it’s worth extra money.
Dude, just stop with this crap! Post something relevant or don’t post anything at all!
There have been rumors of this lens being replaced for years now, much moreso in the last year. However, this lens has been one of Canon’s most successful of all time. Afterall, this model is 20 years old. Don’t look for a replacement to this lens until at least April or May 2017, if even then.
This is a fragile lens but worth the extra care necessary to keep it working, for the price the image quality is great. Keep a lens hood on it, always, and be gentle putting the lens cap on and it should last awhile.
El Ticher …. check this out bro
Nice…
Eh. Not that great of a lens.
