Today’s B&H DealZone (one-day deal) is the G-Technology 5TB G-DRIVE G1 USB 3.0 Hard Drive for $169.95. Regular price is $230; this deal is available today only or until sold out.
The G-Technology 5TB G-DRIVE G1 USB 3.0 Hard Drive has 5 terabytes of storage — enough for tons of photos or videos, connected to your computer using USB 3.0. Housed in an aluminum enclosure, the drive features data transfer rates up to 165 MB/s and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm. It natively supports USB 3.0 and includes a USB 3.0 cable, and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0.
MAkes me wonder what hard drive is actually inside that enclosure…b/c “Gtechnology” isn’t a hard drive manufacturer. It’s either a Western digital, hitatchi, or seagate hard drive inside…and probably the cheapest line of drives. I wouldn’t trust my data to this…
You probably shouldn’t trust your data to a single drive anyway — RAID is your friend. I use external drives like this to backup my RAID or move files around (physically).
Duh.
Actually GTech uses HGST drives and they are rated as some of the most reliable on the market.
Good to know. As long as they’re not using maxtor drives 🙂
