Canon Lens Prices will Go Up on Sunday July 2nd, as Rebates Expire

We have received confirmation from several different reliable sources that effective prices on Canon lenses will increase on July 2nd. Two major rebate programs are scheduled to expire on July 1st. We are expecting a reduction in rebate value for the instant rebate. We have yet to confirm a change in the mail-in rebate, but expect that its value will be similarly reduced.

As we posted last week, we expect that for many popular lenses this will translate to a $50 increase in base price and a $50 decrease in mail-in rebate value (when you purchase two or more lenses). In total, this is an up-to $100 increase in net price per lens.

A price increase at this time is not be surprising; historically, it is typical for Canon to increase their prices through the summer months. If you are looking to purchase lenses within the next 3-4 months, this week is likely the best opportunity to get a good deal. The next big discount is not expected until the end-of-year sales, during the holiday season.

To take advantage of our street prices from Canon USA authorized dealers, please ensure your order is entered by Friday, June 30th, before the deals and discounts disappear.

To take advantage of the mail-in rebate and get the lower “net price”, you must purchase TWO items from the below list in the same transaction. A number of lenses will also have the free 13-month Canon CarePAK!

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

They do this so that they can drop them again at the end of the year for black friday/cyber monday/xmas/all that stuff. It gives us some time to bank up some cash to get better deals later.
